December 2016 at the Imo State University Auditorium, an African ICT pioneer and billionaire businessman, Leo Stan Ekeh held an audience of over 1,000 young undergraduates and young graduates spellbound as he revealed to them the secrets that made him successful in most areas of his life, including; academics, entrepreneurship, family and as a leader.

The occasion is the Imo State University Alumni Association and YUDALA (an online and offline retail shop) organized wealth creation workshop, which had great motivational speakers and life coaches including; Dr. Cally Cussons Anopue, Linus Okorie, etc in attendance.
According to the 60 years old ZINOX Computers CEO, the following qualities are necessary for anyone who wants to be successful as an entrepreneur

1. HONESTY: Telling a story of how he made more than 4.5 Million Dollars in his first few weeks in Nigeria as an ICT entrepreneur, he made it clear that considering the amount of money which he had access to at the time he started off and the fact that most of his clients paid him huge sums of money before he made his supplies, he could have decided to abscond with the monies without making the supplies, because little was known about him by these people. But he kept faith and that was what earned him the trust and huge clientele that he today boasts of.

2. BE HUNGRY FOR SUCCESS: According to him, the major driving force of all successful entrepreneurs is not really the desire to make more money, but the fear of failure or defeat.

3. MARRY A GOOD AND INTELLIGENT WIFE: To drive your success in business, you need a wife who will also be a good thinker, whom you can consult before taking some sensitive decisions. He observed that the reluctance by some men, especially Igbo men about marrying highly intelligent and ambitious women is responsible for the failure of a greater number of such men to grow their businesses beyond average status

4. COMMERCIALIZATION OF PASSION: Even though you can do many things, but it is more advisable for you to engage in those things that give you satisfaction and also make sure you make money out of those things. In his words; "Any passion that does not pay your bills is a waste".

5. STRIVE TO BE THE BEST IN WHATEVER YOU DO: You mustn't start from the things that are known to be very lucrative, as everything can be lucrative and you can actually become a bilionaire from selling groundnuts. In his words; "If you start off selling apple, target becoming the best apple seller around. The same strategies and passion with which you sold apples and it worked well, you can as well sell computers and become very successful in it.

6. VALUE TIME: Using his experience at a meeting of his town union in Lagos, which he attended when he was still a young boy, he advised upcoming entrepreneurs not to allow any minute of their time to be wasted on things that are not productive. You must work with the mindset that any time wasted, is money wasted. Only be at places that are beneficial to your businesses or dreams. He also advised against one living beyond his means and living ostentatious lifestyle. He squealed that there is a billionaire in Imo State who is considered one of the wealthiest men in the State, who owes banks about 80 Billion Naira. He told his bewildered audience that to service such debt, the billionaire will need to be paying the banks about 200 Million Naira every month as interest.

7. INVEST IN THE FUTURE: Describing himself as a researcher on the future, the ICT entrepreneur whose son owns YUDALA and his first daughter the country distributor of TECNO, INFINIT and other smart phones, lectures that any entrepreneur must have an eye on the future and be able to direct his or her investments in such a way that he will remain in business no matter the vagaries of technology and the economy.

8. YOU MUST BE A FIGHTER: Telling a story of how he fought hard to win a contract from INEC for the supply of computers and other machines needed for the conduct of the 2007 and 2011 elections, he informed his audience that he had to throw in huge sums of money, time, energy and even at the risk of his own life to get the contract which the INEC commissioner at the time had already planned to award to a Chinese company, Leo Stan informed his audience that an entrepreneur must be ready to take risks and not run away from challenges.

9. DIVERSIFY YOUR BUSINESS INTERESTS: It is important for an entrepreneur to have more than one business interest, as there could be a crisis in one area of his or her business, and that may spell an end to his wealth.

10. INVEST WISELY: He assured his audience that there is no better way to remain economically afloat than saving whatever monies you make. He recommended investment in real estate  as one of the safest ways to save money. However, one does not need to keep concentrating his or her real estate investments in one area of the country as there could be problem. He also advised against investment in lands, as anything can happen.

The whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government is paying off positively as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today stormed a residential building in the 7th Floor of a four - bedroom apartment at Osborne Towers located at 16, Osborne road Ikoyi, Lagos, where a humongous find of foreign currencies and Naira notes to the tune of $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m was uncovered.

The operation followed a whistle blower's confidential alert received by the Commission's Lagos office this morning regarding some noticed suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building. According to the source, the movers of the bags, make believe that they bring in bags of clothes.

Another source who is conversant with the apartment of interest indicated that a woman usually appeared on different occassions with Ghana Must Go bags. " She comes looking haggard, with dirty clothes but her skin didn't quite match her outward appearance, perhaps a disguise", the source said.

On getting to the building, operatives met the entrance door locked. Inquiries from the guards at the gate explained that nobody resides in the apartment, but some persons come in and out once in a while. In compliance with the magisterial order contained in the warrant, the EFCC used minimum force to gain entrance into the apartment.

Monies were found in two of the four bedroom apartment. Further probe of the wardrobe by operatives in one of the rooms, was found to be warehousing three fire proof cabinents disguisedly hidden behind wooden panels of the wardrobe. Upon assessing the content of the cabinets, neatly arranged US Dollars, Pound Sterling and some Naira notes in sealed wrappers.

Preliminary findings indicate that the funds are suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity.

The facility is said to be owned by Osborne Towers Resident Association.

Investigations are ongoing.

The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has accused his predecessor, Ikedi Ohakim, of spending over N16b during the 2011 gubernatorial contest in the state.

Okorocha alleged that Ohakim spent the whooping sum to manipulate the electoral process six years ago but unfortunately for the ex governor the people rejected him.

At a press conference in Owerri, the state capital on Monday, Okorocha, claimed that despite the over N16b the then governor lavished to sway the electoral process in his favor, he was floored by him.

Okorocha claimed that he had never spent a dime to win election before, insisting that he did not spend any money to win the 2011 and 2015 governorship elections in the state, respectively .

He equally alleged that his predecessor did not do enough to uplift the face of the state capital.

According to him, before his swearing in ceremony in 2011, Owerri, was in a bad and unfortunate state.

The governor said "before my swearing in, Owerri was a shadow of itself. You will be ashamed to drive a visitor from America around the city. Only two traffic lights were working, that was only when the President is visiting".

Okorocha boasted that he had done better than Ohakim and all other past governors of the state put together, including the military governors.

According to him "I have built more roads than all the past governors put together. I have built more roads than all of them. I have built more hospitals than all of them. Before 2011, there were just eleven hospitals, all of them were bungalows, but today I have built 27 general hospitals ".

Okorocha, disclosed that he had spent N7b in the building of the first phase of Sam Mbakwe international cargo airport, Owerri, adding that when completed, the state would become an investment hub of the country.

Big Brother Naija winner, Efe Ejeba, arrived Nigeria on Monday night and attended his first ever press conference at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi on Tuesday morning.
The 23-year-old rapper was announced as a new Payporte Brand Ambassador alongside Bisola, the first runner up of the TV Reality Show. PREMIUM TIMES had a chat with the latest millionaire in town at the event where he spoke about his plans and his experience in the Big Brother Naija house.

PT: How do you feel winning Big Brother Nigeria?
Efe: I feel blessed and I am full of gratitude to everyone who voted for me and supported me throughout my stay in the Big Brother Naija competition. I was simply living my life and having fun in the house. I was totally oblivious of the fact that I was receiving so much love outside of the house. I am happy winning but I feel that real success is measured by how many lives I can touch.

PT: Do you think you did anything different that set you apart from your fellow contestants?
Efe: I really did things different. Everyone came to win but I was just myself while some came with strategies, which we got to find out later. I feel I represent the average Nigerian youth in the house.

PT: How did it feel like to be locked up in a particular place for 78 days?
EFE: It was crazy but I was not worried because I was there for the money. I said if it was 90 days I didn’t care because I was out to win. They say we wouldn’t use our phones and I told them that they could even keep my phone for two years. I was never tired of staying in the BBNaija house.

PT: How would you describe your experience in the house?
Efe: Its funny that in a place where we expect a lot of immorality, I became more disciplined.  I didn’t think I would ordinarily have fitted into the Big Brother House because I am not posh but I was proven wrong. When I got into the BBnaija house I realised that I was a bit different from other housemates. I was not just playing for the camera, so, when I was angry or happy I showed it. As time went by, I began believing that I would actually win the show.

PT: How did you cope with your fellow housemates?
Efe: I learnt tolerance and learnt that some people may have great personalities but still exhibit some unacceptable behaviour. I learnt that I needed to compromise and relate with these set of people despite their flaws. I lived in a confined space and several people invaded my space. I couldn’t keep them aside because of certain things they did, so I looked beyond their flaws and embraced their positive side.

PT: You were always placed on eviction every week.
Efe: I’m overwhelmed by this win because I grew up feeling like people didn’t love me and it turned out to be my strong point. I don’t try to be nice to people because I know what people think about me anyway. When I was in school, I was way ahead in class and people felt threatened by my young age. So, every week, I knew that I would be nominated for eviction and that was why I was ready to die just to win the head of house task. I didn’t believe in anyone winning the head of house task to save me aside from myself. So, when it came to those tasks I gave it my all.

PT: Some people think that Tboss’ infamous chat with you in the BBNaija house counted against her. Recall her telling you that if she won the show, she would splash N25 million in a week. Your reaction was simply priceless…
Efe: I was stunned when she told me that she would finish N25 million in a week. I though within myself that, “Me I ready die put for N25m but you say you fit spend am in one week. So wetin you come they do for the house na? You dey block oda people space na.” The biggest irony of the house was that the younger ones knew how to manage their actions but the older ones just said it as it came.

PT: What are your thoughts on the Kemen and the Tboss episode?
Efe: Based on logistics, my people say I no dey diplomatic so I won’t comment on the matter.

PT: Your fans in Jos say you never recognised them while you were in the house?
Efe: I am very proud to be have been born and raised in Jos; we all know how Jos has blessed a lot of people in the Nigerian entertainment industry. I say it all the time that if I was born and raised in Warri, I won’t have been this disciplined. I spoke a lot of Pidgin English in the house but don’t be deceived I also speak English very well.

PT: You have clearly become an overnight sensation. Have you been told that so many Nigerian celebrities threw their weight behind you while you were in the Big brother House?
Efe: I am so grateful to a lot of people including Governor Okowa of Delta State. I heard he threw his weight behind me. I was also told that comedian; I Go Dye dropped N1 million for my campaign team. When I called him, he ended my call and called me back. We spoke for hours. I am also grateful to Ali Baba, Akpororo and so many Nigerian celebrities whom I had never met but stood behind me. I hear my family house in Warri can now be likened to a tourist centre because of the number of people who have thronged our home to congratulate my parents.

PT: Do you regret any of your actions in the house?
Efe: The only regret I have is drinking. I heard my mum is upset with me. So, I apologise to her for drinking so much in the BBNaija house.

PT: What will become of your affair with Mavis now that you are out of the Big Brother Naija house?
Efe: Based on logistics, what we had in the house was great, but she has a boyfriend. I was physically attracted to her and that was why I was close to her in the house.

PT: Are you hooked?
Efe: No I am single.

PT: But there is a picture of you and a certain lady in NYSC uniform making the round on social media. She is rumoured to be your fiancée.
Efe: No, it’s a photoshop

PT: Where will you be based now?
Efe: I relocated to Lagos in 2015. So, I will be based in Lagos.

PT: Will you consider a career in comedy?
Efe: No, I’m not a comedian. My life may be funny but I don’t think my stories are funny.

PT: So, what’s the next step for you?
Efe: It will be more about my music because music is my first love. I have realised that my brand is way bigger than music, so I will definitely explore different areas. If I receive any movie offer, the money must make sense. I don’t feel I know how to act and that was my biggest frustration in the Big Brother House.

PT: Do you have any songs to your credit?
Efe: Yes, I have an EP titled Lagos on ITunes, Amazon and Spotify.

PT: How do you intend to give back to your immediate community?
Efe: I love getting involved in things/projects that I am emotionally attached to. Growing up, potable water was very difficult to come by so I plan to erect a manual borehole in my immediate community in Jos and in Warri. I also hope to assist as much people as I can in the entertainment industry.

PT: Olamide tweeted that he will love to work on a music project with you.
Efe: I felt very grateful that Olamide Baddo reached out to me and promised to work with me. When I meet him, I will twale for him. Based on logistics, no be lie.
