Abu Ibrahim, the senator representing Katsina South, and Amiru Tukur, the member representing Bakori/Danja Federal constituency in the House of Representatives narrowly escaped mob action at a political event organised by the Katsina State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday in Funtua.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that it took a combined teams of security personnel to rescue notable politicians, including the governor’s entourage, as they came under attack from protesters. Stones and shoes were used in attacking the dignitaries. Some vehicles in the entourage of the governor were smashed by irate youths while security personnel had to use tear-gas to disperse the crowds and free the dignitaries.
 The event, according to NAN, was an APC rally where the ruling party was accepting defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) and other parties into its fold. The event however ended abruptly.
Reports say trouble started when some youths started chanting “Bamaso Abu Ibrahim’’ (We don’t want Senator Abu Ibrahim) and then started throwing stones and shoes at dignitaries and entertainers invited to perform at the event. Amiru Tukur, the Representative from the area, suffered injury while Abu Ibrahim, along with some of his aides and supporters, who were trying to rescue the senator, were also assaulted.

The Imo State Chairman, Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Sam Ohiri, who is also the Coordinator, South East Council of Traditional Rulers, has bitterly and angrily described the national recognition and identification of the former Chairman of Council, HRM Eze Dr.Cletus IIomuanya, who have been removed, sacked and dethroned by the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, as an immense nightmare to him as a person and to the entire ruling body of the Traditional Rulers in the Igbo land.
Eze Ohiri,while speaking in his Imo Council palace-office at Mbari Street Owerri, expressively warned Journalists and their media houses never and not to write about IIomuanya as a Traditional Ruler, disclosed that he is no more a Traditional Ruler due to his dethrone mentioned by the Governor of Imo State.
Ohiri vividly accused Journalists of projecting and elevating him, whom he described as “Mr.Cletus IIomuanya”.
The SouthEast Coordinator of Traditional Rulers, further portrayed as a fraudster and said “IIomuanya is a wicked man, very demonic and evil, who does want the growth, peace and development of the society”.
He more so described IIomuanya as a national fraudster, who goes across the nation parading himself as a Traditional Ruler, while is not.
He further again warned newsmen to desist from inscribing or etching  IIomuanya as His Royal Majesty ,HRM, or His Royal Highness, HRH, in any of their reportage and  insisted that he (Eze Ohiri) would drag any Journalist who continued to write in recognizing IIomuanya as a Traditional Ruler to court. 
He also warned the general public especially in Imo State and in the SouthEasern State to stop addressing IIomuanya as a Monarch.

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has declared a Nigerian national living in New York wanted for defrauding victims of over $5 million.

According to a press statement released by the FBI’s New York field office,and made available to Sahara Reporters,  the Nigerian New Yorker, Kelechi Declan James, 32, ran an online scheme with four co-conspirators that tricked victims into wiring money to bank accounts the victims believed were owned by family members.

They did this primarily by taking over email accounts of victims’ family members and then requesting that money be wired to their bank accounts.

In other cases, the fraudsters developed “relationships of trust” with the victims before asking for money.

The bureau said the suspect frequents the Brooklyn neighborhoods of East New York, Brownsville, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Flatbush and East Flatbush. Mr. James is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds, the statement said.

The FBI is offering a meager $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Central Bank of Nigeria has built and furnished an ultra-modern state-of-the-art secondary school at Owerre Nkworoji, Nkwerre LGA of Imo State, facilitated by the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Currency, Hon Jones Chukwudi Onyereri, representing Nkwerre, Isu, Njaba, Nwangele Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) crusade across the nation.



The Secondary School, first of its kind came with several state-of-the-art facilities, twenty four (24) class rooms, library, e-learning training halls equipped with over 100 computer sets and training facilities, an exhibition and art training halls, conference hall, server/online facilities, administrative block equipped with a/c, staff quarters, Chemistry, Biology, Physics laboratories.




Speaking at the project’s site on inspection , the Hon member representing Nkwerre, Isu, Njaba, Nwangele Federal Constituency, Hon Jones Onyereri , who led newsmen , commended Central Bank’s management for the project, which he said, came at a very auspicious moment when all that occupied his mind was how to better the living standard,learning, research and academic excellence of his constituents.




He described Central Bank, as “a genuine partner in progress”, said the School was the first of its kind in the South eastern part of Nigeria adding that it would impact the Owerre Nkworoji Autonomous community positively, especially in the areas of learning and research.


Other facilities provided by the Bank at the Secondary School include; solar panels, 100KVA generators and a 100KVA transformer to guaranty power 24/7; borehole facility and water treatment plants, among others.


Hon Jones said that he is committed to empowering youths of his Federal Constituency with cutting edge ICT knowledge, Science and technology.


“For me at the House of Representatives , it is not only a dream come true but also an expression of my commitment to ensuring that secondary school in my federal constituency , like their counterparts all over the world, adopt cutting edge technology in their research projects which will ultimately increase academic excellence,” Jones said.




According Hon Chukwudi Jones Onyereri,

“The availability of data for research and laboratories are fundamental to qualitative analysis of the problems affecting academic excellence . It is our hope that pupils of this secondary school and other researchers would be able to access scientific research and information faster at this school ,” he added.

 Arrest of notorious armed robbery suspect

1.  Chimaobi Okorie 
Exhibits, (i) One cut to size double barrel gun, (ii) Four life cartridges and two expended ammunition. Suspect was arrested on 16/4/2017 at BEGHE GUEST HOUSE IN OKIGWE following a tip-off. He was among the dreaded armed robbery suspects terrorizing Okigwe and its environs. Also involved in the robbery and murder of one Enyioha Okwudiri, a staff of Eko Bank, Okigwe and Inspr Vincent Umeh of Zone 9 Police Hqtrs, Umuahia as well as other armed robbery attacks within Okigwe environs. During the cordon and arrest operation at the GUEST IN, Chimaobi Okorie engaged operatives in a shoot out and attempted to escape through the fence of the hotel but was demobilized by operatives. He was taken to the hospital for treatment where  he was later confirmed dead by the doctor. 

2. Similarly, On 14/4/2017, Operatives of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Imo command, arrested one Justice Ogbonna aka "J.J", leader of the Owerri Wetheral road branch of the Zenith Bank robbery of 23/02/2017 and his cohort, Nwumaegbu Okechukwu Godstime. Suspect Justice Ogbonna aka " J. J" was arrested at St Frances mortuary, Osisioma in Aba, Abia State. He sustained gunshot injuries during arrest encounter and has confessed to various armed robbery operations. His cohort, Nwuamaegbu Okechukwu Godstime was earlier arrested. They are cooperating with Investigation and have led Police Operatives to Nvorsi in Isiala Ngwa LGA where two (2) AK 47 riffles, 7 magazines and 175 live ammunition have been recovered. Investigation is in progress.

In his avowed commitment to support and promote the social and economic interests of his constituents, the senator representing the Imo north senatorial district, in the 8th senate of the National Assembly, distinguished Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu will tomorrow Saturday, April 18th 2017,  if all goes well, unveil the Freaky Diamonds Ultra modern SPA centre Owerri.

The magnificent Ultra- modern SPA centre located at No 79A Wetheral road Owerri, opposite Owerri city school will offer thalassotherapy  care, salon and other health related services to Nigerians.

In his reply to a letter of Invitation as the chairman of the unveiling ceremony, Uwajumogu confirmed his desire to support and also  attend the program. He lauded the  owner of the business, Chief Chika Abazie for coming up with a good business plan that will provide important services to the people.

He noted that such investment would go a long way in generating jobs for the youths which, according to him, will reduce crime and  youth restiveness in the state capital.

While reinstating his commitment to employment generation for youths, he charged Chief Abazie, to also branch into the agricultural sector , by taking advantage of the present administration's  huge investment in the  agricultural sector.
