The authorities of Federal University of Technology Owerri have released guildline for the resumption and continuation of academic activities for the Harmattan Semester of 2016/2017 Session.

In a press release made available to Ifeanyicy.com and signed by the University Registrar/Secretary to the Senate, Mr. John U. Nnabuihe, the Year One students of the Institution would be expected to return on Monday May 8, 2017.  Year 2&3 students would return two days later (i.e May 10) whereas Year Four and Five would return May 15th,  2017.

According to the release,  each student would be allowed to enter the university premises only on presentation of evidence of payment of the sum of N12,500 being fine levied on the studentry for their misconduct and destruction of school properties in the violent protests that took place in February 2017

In the accreditation for entrance in the university campus, each student would be also required to present an evidence of a notarized undertaking of good behavior

It will be recalled that students of Federal University of Technology Owerri had on Friday February 17, 2017 gone on rampage to protest what they described as extortionist policies of the University management. In the issuing melee,  properties worth millions of Naira belonging to the University were looted and in some cases destroyed prompting the school Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Chukwuemeka Eze to announce indefinite halting of academic activities and subsequent arrests of some student unionists who we understand are now at the verge of being rusticated.




Afro pop legend Tuface Idibia alongside others with inspiring success stories have been drafted as speakers in the first ever Imo Entertainment Conference slated for Saturday April 29, 2017 at Imo International Convention Center Owerri.
The conference which has been described as a meeting point for Imo Entertainers with stake holders and investors from within and outside the state is tagged ‘Entertainment is the new oil’ and is packaged by the collaborative efforts of the joint conveners, Uriel Nwadiaro of the Grey Lines Company and the office of the Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment and Public Affairs to Governor of Imo State.

Speaking ahead of the event, the SSA on Entertainment and Public Affairs, Hon. Chukwunonye Irouno said the event is in line with the vision of the state governor to transform the entertainment industry into a major pillar for socioeconomic development in Imo State. He revealed that his office is taking things step by step and testimonies have been recorded in the past months.


“We started by showing that Imo is really blessed with talents and we have maintained that consistency by showing that what we have is not a fluke or over hyped individuals. Most of those who had development love for outside talents have started appreciating what we have here and the next thing is for us to market these talents for general growth and development.


“We are bringing investors in different genres of entertainment to see what we have and also see who and who would be picked on that day. What we are doing has never been done here before and that is also why we are bringing individuals with excellent track record in the industry as speakers to these young ones. They will tell them how to go about their entertainment business, so as to succeed” Hon. Irouno said.


Other speakers at the event include Gospel on the Beat, Ateba alongside others from various sectors of the entertainment industry. Registrations of delegates will kick off by 8:00am, while the main conference starts by 10:00am at Imo International Convention Center, IICC Owerri.


Audition for performances for the conference will hold on April 25th and 26th, 2017 at Bongo Center beginning by 3:00pm each of the days with a Two Thousand Naira [N2000] ticket admitting interested participant, while artistes will be given time to perform after the conference which will be featuring speeches, question and answer sessions.  Participants seeking special celebrity attentions at the conference are to pay Thirty Thousand Naira [N30,000] only. The tickets are on sale at House of Freeda, Grand Cubana, Bongo Center, Rock View Hotels and Zanders FM.


Afropop legend, Tuface Idibia aka Tubaba has already released a video message calling on entertainers and stakeholders of the industry in Imo State to attend the event en masse because of the rich positive impact and connections it is going to offer.


Also in the line of activities for the day is the grand finale of the Imo Student Got Talent Fiesta which will kick off after the conference at the same venue by 5:00pm. The N2000 ticket for the conference will also be valid for the Talent Fiesta.


According to Linda Ikeji's Blog, the last three Big Brother Housemates; Efe, Bisola and Tboss have just been gifted plots of land courtesy of Olakunle Churchill, the chairman of Big Church Group.

The plots of land which are part of the properties of King Andrea Realtors was presented to the top three finalists yesterday.

A very excited Efe Michael thanked Churchill saying, "can this be real? I'm truly blown away by this show of love and kindness. We are so grateful.... thank you so much sir, Who I be to get land for Abuja?".

The presentation ceremony also had the Big Church Foundation ambassador Praiz in attendance.


... COMMENDS THEM FOR QUALITY REPRESENTATION

 The Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has showered encomiums on two Members of House of Representatives from Imo State,  Hon. Jerry Alagbasoa and Hon. Jones Onyereri for quality representation of their people and for not engaging in politics of bitterness and rancour.



Ugwumba Uche Nwosu made this remark at two different occasions; the thanksgiving and reception in honor of Hon. Jones Onyereri by members of his community and Commissioning of some projects attracted by Hon.Asiwaju Jerry Alagbaso to his federal constituencies, Nkwerre, Njaba, Isu, Nwangele and Orlu,  Orsu, Oru East Federal constituencies,  aswell as for their  broad- mindedness in extending hands of fellowship across political divide by inviting members of other political parties to their events.




He however used the illustration of purgatory to describe them as those who are already in political pargatory which is a sure way to political heaven, while becoming on them to be fast and join him and other members of the All Progressive Congress who he said are already in political heaven in the APC.

The occasion of the commissioning of some critical federal roads and other infrastructural contituency outfit attracted by Hon. Asiwaju Jerry Alagbaso also attracted the presence of the executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha,  represented by his Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere who performed the commissioning of the projects.




In his address at the occasion, Hon.Jerry Alagbaso made frantice efforts to correct any misconception on why he invited the governor and other members of the APC to the event which was also chaired by the Chief of Staff,  Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.

He described Owelle as his brother from Orlu Zone, irrespective of political party divide and one he knew very well before his entry into active politics.

The Hon. House of Representatives Member added  "I believe in what Owelle believes, that is why I invited him. He is the Governor in whom we are well pleased. We are looking under the governor in this state and the truth is that  Owelle came saw and conquered. 




I see myself complementing the Rescue Mission of Owelle as I have attracted some Rescue projects to my constituents from the Federal Government.

The legislator who is the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Federal Roads Maintenence Agency (FERMA) boasted that he has attracted more projects than any other politician at his level, even more than some state governors.

He used the opportunity to appreciate the speaker of the House of Representatives for giving him the opportunity to serve as the Chairman of FERMA committee.

Loyalists of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said they would decamp en masse to another political platform, if Senator Ali Modu Sheriff wins the legal contest at the Supreme Court.

Former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and a strong ally of Makarfi, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, disclosed this, yesterday, while addressing party stakeholders at Obiri Ehinkirinki Hall, Okpala in Ngor Okpala local council area of Imo State.


“Let me tell you in clear terms that if Ali Modu Sheriff wins the legal battle at the Supreme Court, there is a ready political platform waitingfor us. We will decamp en masse to the party and abandon PDP for Sheriff,” Ihedioha said.

While telling party loyalists that “Sheriff was brought into PDP to destroy the party,” Ihedioha also alleged that “Sheriff has a hidden agenda and we will not allow him to actualize it in PDP.”

According to Ihedioha, “there will be a PDP stakeholders meeting, comprising all former governors, serving and former lawmakers at the national and state levels, in Owerri on Sunday.”


While saying that ward chairmen, secretaries, women and youth leaders were expected at the meeting, the former Deputy Speaker equally disclosed that they would chart the way forward for the party.

“It is our desire to return power to the masses, in line with the PDP slogan of power belongs to the people,” Ihedioha said.

Explaining the reason for his visit to the area, Ihedioha said it was a fence mending mission.“I am here for reconciliation. I have forgiven those that offended me and I expect those that I inadvertently offended to forgive and forget,” Ihedioha said.

Speaking on behalf of the party loyalists, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, party Chairman, Mr. Morrison Njoku, commended Ihedioha for the trip and described him as “a true leader.”



Osamwonyi Bright Osas is a graduate of Political Science and Public Administration who is observing the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) programme at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.

Luck  came his way as he encountered Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose when the came to Ikere Ekiti for on the spot assessment  of the third phase ongoing Ado/Ikere road dualization on Thursday 20th April, 2017.

Governor Fayose had finished the supervision and was on his way to his bus when Osas accosted him, "good afternoon Mr. Governor, I am a native of Edo, I relocated from Adamawa to Ekiti State because of my love for you,  I follow everything you do religiously online, I love you so much and I pray God take you higher and higher. I graduated from UNIBEN with a first class in Political Science and Public Administration, one thing I pray thee Sir, please allow me snap with you Sir", Osas who was in NYSC outfit begged.

Without blinking an eyelid, the governor obliged and photographers did the needful. Immediately after this, the unusual happened, "go to the provost tomorrow, tell her I asked her to give you automatic employment", Mr. Fayose said.

Osas who was overwhelmed by the governor's gesture went on his kneels in appreciation, thanking God and governor Fayose for the favour. Speaking with newsmen after the encounter, Osas said "I am overwhelmed seeing the governor of Ekiti State today,  he's an amiable leader and he is so down to service, when I was in school as an undergraduate I do read many of his speeches on what governance should be, on how to move Nigeria forward.

"I am in love with the fact that he's fearless, he discharges his duties without fear or favour, that is one of the qualities I cherish in him. I learnt from him that for you to rule successfully, you must appreciate the common man, he is a very good friend of the masses,  seeing him come so close to the people inspires me, I was just coming from my CDS now and I saw him here, I was so happy and I said I must see him before he leaves and that was why I accosted him.

"I just thanked God for what happened now and I pray God bless him abundantly. He has just called the provost that I should be retained, that I should be given automatic employment, permanent employment, he called the provost and the provost said first thing on Monday I should come with my CV. I just want to appreciate governor Fayose."
