.Says Imo Govt. To Transform Afor Oru City,  Upgrade Ahiara Technical College

The Hon. Commissioner for Commerce and Industry to Imo State government, Chief Engineer Chidi Ibe has commended governor Rochas Okorocha's free education at all levels stating that among the 27 LGA's in the state, Ahiazu has the highest number of beneficiaries at the Tertiary institution in the Imo.

The commissioner exclusively disclosed this to Trumpeta newspaper after a break fast meeting the governor had with elites, stake holders, political leaders and people of the area at the Government House, Owerri, last Tuesday.

Hon. Chidi Ibe maintained that an average of 215 Ahiazu sons and daughters per ward in twelve wards were beneficiaries of the absolute free education of the state governor at tertiary level which he said have continued to cushion the burden of tuition fees by parent as education in the area is a major domestic interest of every family.

While revealing the outcome of the breakfast meeting with the governor, Hon. Chidi Ibe stated that their visit was to express their profound gratitude and unflinching support for the tremendous work done by his Rescue Mission administration and equally to relate their challenges bothering on roads in the area.

According to the Commissioner, Governor Okorocha promised to build roads linking major towns and villages in the area (Nnarambia, Lude, Obodo Ahiara, Ekwerazu-Town, Umuedo, Umubiri, ring roads and Afor-Oru, Afor-Ogbe, Obohia, Ikeduru) and the roads totalling over 14 kilometers of roads, he added that the governor also promised to upgrade the statues of Ahiara Technical college and the transform Afor-Oru to a modern city as he disclosed that an ultramodern timber and building materials market is ongoing in Ahiazu which he said will cushion the effect of economic shock experienced recently and boost local economic activities in the area.

Lending his voice,  a participant of the meeting, Hon Odom Ephraim affirmed the governor's promises for Ahiazu Mbaise people on roads, Ahiara Technical college upgrade and the transformation of Afor-Oru to a befitting city.

According to Hon. Odom Ephraim, governor Okorocha had delegated his officers to carry out an on the spot assessment for their demands to be met.

Last Friday, the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations to the Imo State Government, Hon Engr Uju Chima Kingsley, during a civic reception by the Organization Committee on behalf of Niger Delta Patriots of Egbema ward E/ Obuoma -Dike Autonomous Community, was bestowed the title of Omee Udoo 1.

The traditional rulers in the area led by Eze Akubueze Sylvester who conferred the title on Chief Uju Chima Kingsley, described him as an illustrious son who have continued to sue for peace in the region.

In their separate remake, elites, youths and women in the area maintained that Hon Chief Uju earned his title using his appointment to foster peace and unity as well as demonstrate a mark of a true leader.

In his acceptance speech, Hon Chief Engr Uju expressed joy and appreciation for the home coming gesture and conferment of Omee Udo 1of Obuoma Dike by traditional rulers in the area, he recalled his humble beginnings leaving in a community where the people are predominantly famers "I almost grew up in Etekwuru, the progress imbibed in peace almost eluded us because of the absence of love, today with peace development is manifesting itself which is the initiative of governor Okorocha, he has put me to proactive use to implement the good deed visible in the region" he said.

He promised more governments presence through  the governor with respect to rehabilitation of roads, hospitals, reviving electricity in the area and other basic amenities.

He described youths of the area as distinguished men and women who will prosper in their various endeavours.

Actor Guild of Nigeria in there number stormed the burial ceremony of late Ezinne Martina Okwu, mother of Chief Denis Okwu, popularly known as Sweet Apple last weekend at Amambaa Uzoagba in Ikeduru LGA,  Imo state.

The list of actors present was endless as the host community trooped out enmass to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars on parade.

When Trumpeta Extravaganza caught up with Mr Steve Ebo, a veteran actor, he described the late Ezinne Martina Okwu as a good mother who ensued discipline in her children which he said he observed in the character of Chief Denis Okwu whom he described as a philanthropist and God fearing man with the interest of his people at heart.

While reacting to his absence on movie roles recently, Mr Steve Ebo said that there was need for younger actors to attain the height veterans in the industry had attained, he added that the younger ones are getting better with every movie they feature as he wished them well.

The Honorable Member representing Ihitte Uboma State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly and Chairman Committee on Education, Hon Dr Mrs Uche Ejiogu has commended Governor Rochas Okorocha and Senator Benjamin Uwajumogwu while unveiling the Imo State College of Education ICE in Ihitte Uboma last Saturday.

During the unveiling ceremony at the school premises, Hon Uche Ejiogu expressed happiness following the achievements recorded by governor Okorocha who against all odd ensured the establishment of ICE in the area.

She disclosed the Senator Benjamin Uwajumogwu in his benevolence paid for the registration and approval of the college as she said her efforts towards giving the institution a facelift was not over emphasized coupled with individuals who contributed their own quarter.

Hon Ejiogu recalled that Imo State University which is now in Uturu, Abia state started with the facilities in Ihitte Uboma and had created a vacuum until the coming of ICE which journey began from her inception into office in 2015.

The honorable member revealed that 3 core education faculties and Pre-NCE program will kick start start by September, 2017 as she maintained that social and economic benefits through the institution will be enormous.

Hon Uche Ejiogu enjoined her constituents to support governor Okorocha's efforts and shun personal interest "the fulfilled promise of Okorocha  sighting the institution in Ihitte Uboma is more beneficial to the people in the area" she concluded.



Pres. Muhammadu Buhari has approved new boards for Federal Polytechnics and Colleges of Education. According to the Minister Of Education, Mr. Adamu, the affected Federal Colleges of Education and their respective chairmen are as follows:

Saidu Isa - Federal College of Education, Osiele-Abeokuta.

Mr. Adamu said that the new governing boards comprising chairmen and members of the federal colleges would be inaugurated on a date to be announced soon.

Mr. Adamu also disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the governing boards of all the 25 federal polytechnics in the country.

He said the boards are statutorily responsible for the governance and overall policy formulation for the institutions concerned.

He said in making the appointments of the chairpersons and members of the respective boards, the President, apart from ensuring geopolitical spread, was also guided by the stipulated requirements for such appointments.

He said the appointment was in line with was contained in each of the Acts establishing various institutions.

He added that each of the appointees was required to, among others, possess a minimum of a National Diploma and be a person of impeccable integrity with a strong commitment to technical education.

According to him, the affected Polytechnics and their respective Chairmen are as follows:
