Governor Rochas Okorocha has announced the donation of the State Owned Marine University at Ossemotor in Oguta LGA, Imo State still under Construction to the Nigeria NAVY, adding that the University would be very useful to the Naval Command and to the Society at large.

The governor announced the donation when the Committee set up by the Chief of Naval Staff on the New Naval Base in Ossemotor Oguta LGA paid courtesy call on Governor Okorocha on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Government House Owerri, adding too that the government had earlier donated the 200  bed General Hospital at Ngor-Okpala to the Navy.

His words “we have donated the 200 bed ultra modern hospital at Ngor-Okpala because we know that Navy is a disciplined Force and will probably run the best military hospital in the State which will be of great importance to Imo people”.

He continued “we have equally donated to you the Marine University which is under Construction at Oguta. The Marine University has the most beautiful location for the Navy. We have started this project as Marine University but we believe that the proper institution to handle it with the naval base should be the Nigeria navy. We have donated the land and undertake to complete the ongoing project which has the capacity of taking about   a 1000 students or a thousand officers when completed. We are now waiting for you to come immediately as this government does not take the tranquilizing drug of protocol and gradualism. As soon you commence, the Contractors will return to site to complete the project”.

The governor said “Navy coming to Oguta will help in developing the waterway from Oguta to Lagos thus helping tourism to flourish in the area with Oguta lake which will soon be given a facelift. It will equally make the area secured. This will help the State to tap its tourism potentials to the fullest in the area”.

According to him “all these efforts is to force development to the State as Nigerians have not heard the Imo story yet. There is no state so centralized and richly endowed like Imo State. We have allocated land for the Naval Command School and another land for the navy estate. Admitted the naval captain as a member of the Imo Security Council. Donated temporary office and quarters for the smooth take off of the naval base”.

In his speech earlier, Commodore Obenta who led the Committee expressed the Chief of Naval Staff’s gratitude and appreciation for the government and good people of Imo State for the donation of the land at Oguta and 200 bed ultra modern hospital at Ngor-Okpala, stressing that the State is ready and willing to support the naval community when eventually the base is established in Oguta and the hospital taken over by the Nigeria Navy.

He promised that the Chief of Naval Staff will expidiously establish a port at Oguta and fastrack the smooth take off of the hospital, pointing out that a strong committee has been set by the Chief of Naval staff for this purpose.

He pledged that the Nigeria Navy is willing and ready to partner the Imo State government in ensuring adequate security for the growth of the State.

Former special adviser to Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Federal Matters and a nominee for commissionership,  Idia Babalola, escaped death by a whisker when a mob of youths attacked her at the funeral of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke which was held on Monday at Ede, Osun State.

According to eyewitnesses, everywhere was calm during prayer session held ahead of interment until Mrs. Babalola appeared at the venue. The youths became angry on sighting her because they considered her to be a ‘traitor,’ an eyewitness said.

They wanted the woman to leave immediately because there was a speculation she connived with the opposition to get Adeleke out of the way through food poison, the eyewitness told SaharaReporters.

But autopsy has revealed that the deceased died as a result of overdose of painkiller administered on him.

The first civilian governor of Osun State and senator representing Ede West was in the race again for the 2018 governorship election, but had failed to receive the support of the current administration.

According to a source from Abere, the government house of Osun State,  Ogbeni Aregbe is said to be more favorably disposed to his Chief of Staff Adegboyega Oyetola and his former Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration, Ajibola Bashiru.

And Mrs. Babalola is closer to the governor’s caucus than to the late senator’s, despite the fact that  she was recommended by the senator for the post of special adviser during Aregbesola’s first term.

“So seeing her at the burial where most loyalists of the incumbent governor were absent triggered anger in the supporters of the late senator,” the source said.

Governor Rauf himself did not attend the burial because he is currently in China.

Despite all entreaties from dignitaries, including Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun and his Ondo State counterpart, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu the youths insisted that Mrs. Babalola should leave.  “In fact, they have started stoning her before Amosun and others eventually sheltered and led her out of the premises.
Senator Adeleke died on Sunday and has been buried on Monday, according to Islamic rites.

Onyeaguochas declaration of dumping the Apc if the guber ticket is not given to owerri zone in 2019 is at best a publicity stunt and of no effect . No body is threatend about such an inconsequential and  alchohol induced statement . I want to make it clear to him that he can leave now instead of waiting till after the inevitable loss of the guber ticket . 2019 Imo guber ticket is open to all zones in Imo to grab and only the fittest can get it . Onyeaguocha and his co travellers should go and get ready to fight for the ticket as that is the only way to get it and not through empty threat or propaganda . It is laughable to read that Hon Uche is threatning to leave apc if the apc ticket is not given to owerri zone . Nobody , not even the governor will fall for such an empty statement . Guber ticket for 2019 is a very serious business and will be fought for fiercely by all the zones . Those who are not aware are hereby informed . Orlu zone where I come from is poised to retain the guber ticket and am also aware that okigwe zone is also getting ready . Onyeaguocha should go and get ready with owerri zone and not wish that any body will dash him the ticket on a platter . This is the reality on ground and we shall meet at the battle ground to decide who gets the ticket .

An APC Chieftain, former Special Adviser to Governor Okorocha and 2015 Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Bar Uche Onyeagocha has threatened that the entire Owerri zone will dump APC if it fails to field a candidate from the zone in the 2019 Imo Gubernatorial election.

The former member of the house of representatives, who hails from Obinze in Owerri West Local Government Area who was speaking at the launch of IMO EQUITY MOVEMENT, held at the country home of Dr Uzoma Obiyor at Ugirike in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State, a non political movement to actualize the dream of Owerri zone to produce a Governor from the zone come 2019, also said that the zone will support any political party that fields Owerri zone man in 2019.

The business tycoon and CEO of Multinet Group said that under the charter of equity, Imo State was divided into three political segment for sharing power, however regretted that by 2019, Orlu zone would have tasted power for 16 years, Okigwe Zone 8 years 3 months and Owerri zone only 1 year and 10 months.

The personality that attended the ceremony yesterday Sunday 23rd April, 2019, cut across all the political parties in Imo, including Hon Uche Onyeagocha, Chief Gibson Achonwa (Oyiga), Chief Cele Ehirim, Bar GAS Amadi, Dr Orikaeze Vitalis Ajumbe, Bar Kingsley Ononuju (former Secretary OZOLPOF) who also serves as secretary to the new body among other personalities.

First of all, thank you for all the support and love.
Its no news I got injured so I will be out of fotball for a while.
I will go through this like everythings else and come back even stronger. So far I played with one leg so it shouldn't be any problem. One thing is for sure, I decide when its time to stop and nothing else. Giving up is not an option. See you soon.
