About 5,500 Nigerians are set to be deported from Mali and Libya, over various migration offences ranging from Human trafficking, smuggling of migrants, and non possession of valid travel documents. 



According to reports, the first batch of 250 Nigerians from Libya will arrive the country today. An additional batch of 250 Nigerians would also be deported from same countries next week . Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons , NAPTIP Julie Okah-Donli, made this disclosure yesterday, during her maiden visit at the agency’s zonal command in Lagos. She revealed that 5000 Nigerians, mainly victims of human trafficking, were awaiting evacuation back home from Mali.



The Imo State Police command made a large harvest Wednesday as they rounded up some boys said to be involved in initiation process.

It informed that " On 10/05/2017 at about 06 50hrs, operatives of Orji Police Division received a distress call that a group of cultists were rampaging at Orji Comprehensive Secondary School during initiation activity and were shooting indiscriminately.

A combined team of operatives responded to the area. On sighting the police operatives, the hoodlums started shooting and fled to different locations. Thirty-one (31) suspected cultists were later arrested. The suspects are undergoing screening at the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID)

The State Commissioner of Police CP Chris Ezike who coordinated the operation averred that cult related activities is a top priority in his road map to fighting crime and criminality in the state. He stated that those arrested would be charged to court after investigation.

Yesterday afternoon, a policewoman attached to Makinde Police Division, Oshodi area of Lagos, received the beating of her life after a female soldier engaged her in a fight, at Oshodi, opposite NAFDAC office.

According to reports, the police traffic warden was on official duty when she was assaulted by the military woman, adding “as we speak, the policewoman is in coma in an undisclosed hospital. “The case of assault has been reported to Police Command Headquarters for further investigation.” Although nobody knew what exactly transpired between the women, an eyewitnesses said there was an argument between the two female officers, who were both in their uniforms, which later resulted to an outburst.

Meanwhile, reports show that soldiers descended on newsreporters who came to get details of the matter. They beat them up, tore one of the reporter’s clothes and seized his phone as he tried to talk to the fighters and snap pictures of the incident. He dashed across the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, but the military men went after him, hitting him all over his body, until a courageous motorcyclist sped off with him.
