A man has died and 10 people have been injured after a man drove a van into worshippers near a north London mosque. Eight people were taken to hospital after the "terrorist attack" near Finsbury Park Mosque, police said.

A group of people were helping a man who had collapsed when they were hit by the van just after midnight. The man has died, but it is unclear whether this was as a result of the attack. A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Police said all the victims of the attack, which took place outside Muslim Welfare House, were Muslim.

Eyewitness Abdul Rahman said the driver had said he wanted to "kill all Muslims" and told the BBC he struck the man and helped subdue him.

Notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudi Onwuamadike, aka Evans, on Sunday, led the police to two of the three camps where he kept his victims on Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, and the New Igando, both in Lagos State. The other one, which could not be visited on Sunday, was reportedly located on Gowon Estate, in the Egbeda area of the state. While the Ejigbo detention camp is located on Green Street, Jakande Estate, the other is at 21 Prophet Asaye Close, New Igando.

Evans was apprehended in one of his two mansions on Magodo Estate, Lagos, on Saturday, June 10. Six of his gang members – Nwosu Chukwuma, aka Sudo, 42; Suoyo Paul aka Nwana, 42; Felix Chinemerem, 36; Chukwuemeka Bosah, 28; Uchechukwu Amadi and Ogechi Amadi – were also arrested. In continuation of the revelation of his seven years of kidnapping, he told operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team that the Jakande Estate detention camp was rented in 2010.

He said, “I have just three camps in Lagos where I kept some of the victims I kidnapped.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 2, Adamu Ibrahim, on Monday said the police would build on the recent arrest of the notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike otherwise known as Evans, and hunt down his colleagues and other criminal elements still hibernating in Lagos and Ogun States.

Ibrahim, who spoke to journalists after meeting with Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, in Ikeja, assured the public, especially parents of the abducted students of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe that police would ensure the safe return of their wards. He said security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the release of the students and reunite them with their families. He said: “Infact very soon, you will hear good news on the issue. We are working seriously on it. At this stage, I will not want to disclose too much because these are security issues. But all I want to say is that people should give us a chance and very soon, they will hear good news.”

He said police officers in Lagos and Ogun are battle ready for criminal elements in the two states.

The Social Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration has in the last two years evacuated seven hundred and eighty nine beggars from the streets of the territory. This is according to the Acting Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat Irene Elegbede who is complaining about the non collaborative efforts of relevant stakeholders to rid the streets of beggars and sex workers.

The Secretariat is worried about the increasing spate of commercial sex workers and beggars on the street of Abuja and the headache they pose to the authorities in the FCT.

The Secretariat despite all efforts to ensure the FCT is void of social miscreants is limited due to lack of a willing collaboration from relevant bodies to evacuate them.

The Federal Government said on Monday it would use a fraction of the looted funds recovered so far to finance part of the 2017 budget. The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma, said this at the 2017 budget breakdown in Abuja. He said the total revenue projected was N5.08tn, with 11 percent coming from the recoveries made.

“On recoveries, we are being extremely conservative; what is in the budget is what we know about already. “So if more comes, we will use it. “Know that recoveries of looted funds are not the most dependable way to finance the budget because of the legal processes that have to be concluded before it can be spent. “So, the money quoted in the budget is the one we have already recovered and in our pocket to spend as we wish.’’

He said the total revenue projected exceeded the 2016 projection by 30.26 per cent, adding that oil revenue projection was put at 41.7 per cent compared to 19 per cent in 2016.

Croatian authorities have launched an investigation into the captain of the National Football Team, Luka Modric. The midfielder, who also plays for Real Madrid, is suspected of making false statements at the tax fraud trial of Zdravko Mamic, his former manager. He could not immediately be reached for comment, Reuters news agency reports.

Mr Mamic, a powerful figure in Croatian football, was Mr Modric's boss at leading club Dinamo Zagreb. Mr Mamic, his brother Zoran Mamic, and two others are accused of corruption that reportedly cost Dinamo Zagreb more than 15m euros (£13.1m; $16.7m), and the state 1.5m euros. Cash is said to have been embezzled via phoney deals where they took a cut from the sales of players.

If found guilty of perjury, Mr Modric could face between six months and five years in prison.
