Mr. Chinedu Hardy Nwadike the Founder of OtownGist Media & Entertainment has frowned at the common nature of OAPs in Imo State, adding that if they don’t repackage, there won’t be anything special about them again.

Hardy who is the President of Imo State Bloggers Association, said the profession has lost its flare as some people in it don’t even understand the weight they carry.

He said; “I often hide my face when I hear some people I meet are OAPs. They might have the swagger on radio but when you meet them, you don’t just feel that aura of someone you listen to over the radio”

“The packaging is just too poor and some of them don’t even dress 30% of the way someone in showbiz should. They just appear as petty traders because they think people won’t recognize them”

“I have seen fans become disappointed because of this and it is doing more harm than good to young people joining the industry as well as the old timers who know the in and out of their onion”

Recalling when OAPs became the first celebrities in Imo State, Hardy said it would be nice to bring back those days when people on the radio and television were seen as they sounded.

He urged those dragging the image of the trade to the muds to repackage themselves so as to become the fans’ favourites again.

“You can’t board devil’s airways and expect to meet Jesus at the airport. These are the voices our people adore and I think they should always do their fans a little favour by always looking good to avoid that regular disappointment the fans feel every now and then.”

“Again, they should get involved in the show and not just the biz or just sit at home and the office. They should get in other media, throw their faces out there for people to read about them. If you want to play in the Champions League, you must take a flight”

Chinedu Hardy Nwadike who is also an author, recently released his third novel, ‘Just a Girl’s Story’, with accolades pouring in from different angles because of the boldness in the story which talks about self-inflicted pains on women.

Agriculture and industries are the bedrock of every sustainable economy.  A nation that cannot feed her citizens is essentially, a failed state.  This is the reason countries with a thinking leadership or critically minded leaders often and constantly prioritize these two all-important sectors of the economy.

The failure of successive administrations in Imo State since the exit of Late Chief Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe, to kick-start the much-needed agro-industrial revolution of the state, has been attributed to several factors including but not limited to the phenomenon of emergency governors, a situation that is prompted by the inability of the masses (electorates) to sieve the chaff from the wind.  This backward political culture of the people on the other hand, is sustained by poverty because from experience, majority of voters demand gratification before casting their votes.  The result is that square pegs are fitted into round holes in terms of governance.

2019 presents another golden opportunity for Ndimo to usher in a new era of knowledge-based, policy-driven governance using their voting power.  Barrister Aloysius Osuji comes with an entirely new vision for the industrialization of Imo State.  The United Kingdom-trained Legal Practitioner quite understands the dynamics of sustainable economic growth and development having trained and worked in some of the biggest and most developed economies of the world.  Barr. Osuji plans to strengthen the synergy between agriculture and industries by first, bringing in the latest but best technologies applicable in modern mechanized agricultural production.

Barr Osuji realizes the futility of a food sufficiency drive without the application of the necessary agricultural technology.  The present sloganeering with the agricultural sector by past and present governments in Imo State, in Barr. Osujis view cannot produce the expected result.  There is therefore the need for a paradigm shift to spur food production and provide raw materials for agro-allied industries to be established in different parts of Imo State especially, the rural areas based on the time-tested, globally acclaimed principle of comparative advantage.  Barr. Osuji has seen it work in Europe, America and China, and is therefore determined to replicate this in Imo.

The principle of comparative advantage in Barr. Osujis blueprint for Imo industrial revolution, will ensure that local governments or communities host industries that utilise raw materials available in their localities, something akin to what Late Governor Mbakwe did for instance, with the now collapsed Ceramic Industry at  Nsu Ehime Mbano that has a lot of clay deposits for the production of ceramics.  Likewise, the Late M.I. Okpara, Governor of the former Eastern Region located the now moribund ADAPALM in Ohaji/Egbema LGA due to the available of land and palm there.  Ditto for Nkalagu Cement Factory located in Nkalagu Ebonyi State, with large deposits of limestone (the major raw material for cement).

But unlike the Sam Mbakwe industrialization strategy which allowed government to manage those industries, Barr. Osuji intends to leverage his extensive contacts and connections to lure private investors in the actualization this dream.

Barr. Osuji understands the role of small and medium Scale Enterprises, SMEs, as a veritable tool to trigger off a quantum leap in industrialization and agro-revolution.  Having travelled widely to the Asian economic tigers like China and others, Osuji intends to deploy the success story of China SMEs in the Imo situation.  Today, China remains the largest producer and exporter of merchandise in the whole world courtesy of the activities of small and medium scale enterprises.  Experience has shown that large numbers of electronic and household products from China are produced in small apartments; this is the magic of SMEs.

But to replicate the Chinese experience, there has to be thorough re-jigging of the operations these SMEs via government policy.  As a keen observer of the goings-on in our state and country, Barr. Osuji is well aware of the bureaucratic bottle-necks which SMEs encounter in order to acess loans from financial institutions.  To illustrate: at about 22% interest rate, small and medium scale enterprises need the grace of God to breakeven in business.  This is further compounded by the short term nature of the loans available to SME operators.  Elsewhere long term loans ensure that start-ups survive the often tough incubation period.  Experience also shows that even when government provides such incentives, the loans are more often hijacked by politicians who convert them to personal use.  There is also the angle of bureaucratic corruption.  So, to achieve the objective of leveraging SMEs (as in China) to kick start the manufacturing sector, would require a leadership or governor with a matching disposition and political will built on corporate discipline and experience.

This is where Barr. Aloysius Osuji (Agunecheibe) legal luminary and globally acclaimed technocrat comes in to fill the gap.  Imo people must think differently in 2019, because the old political war-horses have obviously failed the masses alongside their so-called dominante political parties.  Imo voters must begin to de-emphasize money in their voting behavior and focus on candidates with track records of service.  Attention must shift from who has structure to who can deliver, as there is no other time for salvaging Imo than now.

Imo state in the last decades has witnessed avoidable economic stagnation and retrogression occasioned partly by years of reckless military incursion in Nigeria politics. The successive civilian administrations that took over the reins of power when the country returned to democratic governance in 1999 has not helped matters as they continued to run the affairs, in military style.  This is perhaps why many analyses have described Nigeria democracy as a pseudo military regime.

The result of this unabating leadership ineptitude in the state in particular, and Nigeria by extension is the drastic decline in the quality of life of the people.  Need we repeat here that unemployment, hunger and starvation, squalor, high death rate and general economic hardship have become the life of the majority of Imolites. Consequently, many citizens of the state leave IMO daily, in search of survival in neighbouring states like Rivers, Abia, Lagos, Anambra, Delta, Enugu, Abuja even Ebonyi. Many of those who reside in Boko Haram infected areas of the north, have refused to return to Imo state for the simple reason that they would not be able to grapple with what they see as the high cost of living and near absence of job opportunities in Imo. Can any other assertion be more apt than this?

A concerned citizen recently raised a poser on the socio-economic quagmire which Imo State has found itself since the military truncated the administration of the legendary Sam Mbakwe, who was Imo state governor between 1979 and 1983. His question was why Imo has refused to industrialize, inspite of trillions of naira that has accrued to the state since 1999 under different democratically elected civilian governors.

While sister states like Anambra, Abia and the relatively young state of Ebonyi have taken off industrially, Imo still lags behind in terms of industrial presence. Most of the state-owned industries set up by the visionary Sam Mbakwe administration of old Imo State are either moribund or under-utilised, culminating in loss of job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths of the state aside economic losses to the state.

To properly situate the poor socio-economic conditions of Imolites, experts and technocrats point at the poor-quality leadership that the state has had to grapple with since the turn of the 4th republic in 1999. A former Interior Minister and son of Imo state identified lack of capacity on the part of those who have been at the helm of affairs of the state. To the former minister, Imo state after Mbakwe has been ruled by emergency governors; people who were not prepared for governance given their obvious lack of vision or blue print to kick start the state's economy and improve on the quality of life of the masses of the state.

Today, there is a consensus on the part of leaders and followers in Imo vis-a-vis the imperative to reconfigure and inject New blood into the governance and leadership structure of the state. To achieve this, a new breed of well groomed, differently oriented leaders equipped with global competences necessary to rejig the obvious systemic failure responsible for ugly state of affairs in Imo must be allowed to take over in 2019. It is this connect that a London trained lawyer and technocrat, Barrister Aloysius Osuji has offered himself to lift Imo State out of her present socio-economic and leadership malaise. Barr. Aloysius is prepared to sacrifice his comfort zone as a successful legal practitioner based in the United Kingdom, in order to answer the clarion call come 2019 Imo governorship election. Agunecheibe, will bring to bear his vast experience garnered via years of working in some of the much needed contacts and connection to lure international investors to Imo state.

Barr. Aloysius clearly stands out from the lot. His United Kingdom training ensures Imo will have a governor with the discipline and vision to steer the ship of the state from the looming socio-economic golgotha occasioned by years of ruthless leadership. Imo needs critical infrastructures, as well as she needs industries desperately, agriculture need to be revamped to form the substructure of the state's economy, while education must be restructured to serve today's need of society. Judges 1 Vs 1-2.

An illustrious son of Umunwokwe, Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State. Chief Uche Nwosu was born on the 8th of August, 1975 into the family of late Rev. Daniel Nwaobi Nwosu and Mrs. Jemaimah Nwosu.

Hon. Nwosu has travelled extensively around the globe and has undergone training in such professional areas as Town Planning, Estate Management, Human Resource Development, Corporate Governance, Intelligence and Security etc.
In June, 2011, His Excellency, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha (OON), the Executive Governor of Imo State appointed him as his Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations).
Further to this and in recognition of his hard work, diligence and sense of responsibility, His Excellency, the Governor in April, 2012 found him worthy to be appointed an Honorable Commissioner. He was charged with the responsibility of overseeing the tough and challenging Ministry of Lands, Survey, and Urban Development.
As commissioner in charge of the ministry of Lands, survey and urban planning, Nwosu performed creditably well and brought numerous innovations to the ministry, top of which were the re-certification and digitalization of certificate of occupancy (C of O), the opening of numerous layouts in the state, the creation of the Imo Lands and Lands among others.
While serving in that capacity and as a result of his outstanding performance as noted above, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu won the many awards including the best commissioner in urban development in Nigeria in 2014.
His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha again recognized his professional competence, managerial dexterity and calm disposition and re-assigned him as the chief of staff, administration, Imo state Government House which made him to serve in dual capacity as a commissioner and deputy chief of staff which he held until Imo Executive council was dissolved in 2015.As a result of his outstanding performances noted above, even while performing on dual capacity, the Governor of Imo state His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha (OON) considered him as a suitable candidate and appointed him his Chief of Staff on June 2015. As the Chief of staff, Imo State Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has brought tremendous transformation to the office, making it a cynosure of all eyes. Reward for hard work they say is more work. This saying was brought to bear in the case of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as Governor Okorocha again added to him the responsibility of the supervisory commissioner for special duties, making him to continue to function in dual capacity. This is in addition to their chairmanship and membership of numerous committees including that which cleared arrears of salaries and pensions for Imo workers and pensioners in December, 2015.
His unrivaled performance while discharging his duties was recognized by Imo masses and the judges who voted him the overall and best performing Government appointee within the five years of rescue mission administration, an open account for stewardship rendered by key appointees in the rescue mission government cabinet which was organized by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Imo state council.
Like his master and mentor, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu’s philanthropic and humanitarian spirit will stop at nothing to make sure that the lots of those around him and the society in general is bettered. This is why he has embarked on many people oriented, life transforming projects and engaged in numerous humanitarian services including :

Construction of borehole at Onusa Nkwerre
Construction of the borehole to the people of Umuezeanoruo community Nkwerre.
Construction of three boreholes at different locations for the people of Eziama Obaire autonomous community in Nkwerre LGA.

As a further manifestation of his sagacity to discharge his responsibilities with dexterity, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu used his office as the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Imo State Owelle Rochas Okorocha to secure a permanent orientation camp as aginst the old and dilapidated one. This singular gesture saved Imo state the embarrassment of the corp members posted to the state having their orientation training at Akwa Ibom state.
Though a humane gentleman from Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre LGA who is just an appointee he has been able to do this much for the people of his local government and federal constituency in general. However, his humanitarian gesture is not limited to Nkwerre or his federal constituency alone. Some of the people under his scholarship programme, the artisans he has empowered and those he has helped to secure meaningful employment and appointments also cut across the length and breadth of the entire Imo state and beyond.
As a good team player, fine gentleman and astute manager of human and capital resources, Nwosu has a high knowledge of human relation. In all the positions he has held as a member of the executive council of Imo state, every single person that has worked under him pray and wish to continue working under him. Part of the innovation he carries along with him to give sense of belonging to staff under him is the Christmas/end of the year party for all staff under him. This is a platform which he uses to appreciate and reward hard work and dedication to duty among the staff.
A committed Christian and again like his master and mentor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Ugwumba Nwosu recognizes the fact that every good gifts comes from God who has the power to enthrone and dethrone kings and that the best place to offer most of his philanthropic and humanitarian services through the church and never spare a thought in helping to build a place of worship for the Lord. The churches he renovated in Nkwerre LGA includes; St. Pauls’ Anglican church Nkwerre, St. Mathews’ Anglican Church Amaokpara, Renovation of St. michaels’ Catholic Catholic Parish parsonage Eziama Obaire, St. Peters’ Anglican Church Eziama Obaire to mention but a few. He donated generously towards the new church building of Holy Cross Catholic Parish Aladimma Owerri Municipal council and single handedly tarred the church building. He honours invitation from many churches across the state and beyond and lives his imprints in the sands of time before departure.
These kind gestures and disposition to the church of God had gone unnoticed. As a result, he has garnered several awards from numerous churches, one of the most recent and perhaps one of the most outstanding being the award as an ambassador of Peace by the Holy Cross Catholic Church Aladinma.
As a man who strikes a good balance between religious, traditional and social life, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu’s contribution towards traditional and social well being of the people of Imo state and Nigerians at large, has equally not gone unnoticed. It has attracted him awards, recognitions and chieftaincy titles as; Ugwumba of Eziama Obaire, Amaigbo and Obowo, Ochinanwata 1 of Abia state, Adeyemi of Yorubaland by the Yoruba Community in Imo state and Danzaki Of Dass,Bauchi state.
In December 2015, during a grand reception organized in his honour by the leaders of Isu/Njaba/Nkwerre/Nwangele state constituency, all the traditional rulers in the state uniamousily conferred on him a chieftaincy title of Ugwumba Gburugburu of Imo state.
He has also continued to garner awards from organizations like; the Nigerian institute of quantity surveyors, Nigerian institution of Estate surveyors and valuers, Nigerian institute of Builders.
He is equally a grand patron of; Rochas Foundation Old Boys Association (ROFOSA), Actors Guild of Nigeria, Imo state chapter, Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) among others.
Nwosu who is an active member Nigerian Institute of Town planners (NITP), a fellow of Chattered Institute of Corporate Administrators of Nigeria (FCAI) as well as an associate member, Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Imo state chapter.
Politically, he is a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC). During the run up to the 2015 general elections, he won the gubernatorial ticket of the party in Imo state, but in a move which has been termed unprecedented, he relinquished his ticket to his boss, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
In Imo state, he is well known as a top advocate of youths and students, to this group of people, he is a mentor, motivator as well as a role model. His numerous contributions towards rightly positioning youths and students of Imo state is well known to the general public and has not gone unheralded. He has received the following awards and recognition from youths and students bodies; ‘Architect of good governance’ by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS),  ‘pillar of students’ unionism’ by the SUG of Imo state University. National patron youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Grand patron Arewa youths Ambassadors Congress (AYAC), a group uniting youths in the 19 Northern states of Nigerian.
In further pursuit of his great zeal to empower youths and students of Imo state and beyond, Nwosu is set to meaningfully empower about 1000 youths in different fields of  endeavour before the end of 2017. This is made public while receiving members of National Union On Imo state students (NUISS) who paid him a courtesy visit in his office recently.
As a shining Imo star ,two ultramodern toilet facilities   built and donated to the institution by the amiable and indefatigable Chief of Staff of IMO State Government was commissioned. This was part of the activities that heralded the institution’s 2016  convocation ceremony and Alumni home coming. He also gave out different categories of awards to the best graduating students in the entire faculty of environmental science. In addition his annual football competition which has been upgraded to include female version was formalized
We are happy to recall here that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is one of the worthy alumnus of IMO State University who passed through the institution and allowed the institution pass through him.
The great IMO star recognizes the fact that the institution impacted so much in him and finds so much joy in utilizing any opportunity to give back to the institution. He also recognizes so much that the qualities that endeared him to his principal, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and kept him so relevant in the rescue mission was developed and nurtured at the university where he distinguished himself as the Pioneer  Director of Sports in the Students’ Union Government.
Ugwumba Uche Nwosu developing from our local higher institution and for the fact that he has continued to showcase this fact while identifying
with all the activities that go on in the university is a shining example to the students of the higher institution and Nigerian youths in general.
As the management, lecturers and students of Imo State University has continued to savor the benefits of the magnanimous gesture of the erudite Chief of Staff of IMO State government House.
The entire management and staff of IMO State University, the Alumni and Students are grateful to God for the likes of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, who has  distinguished himself through unparalleled philanthropic gestures by giving back to the higher institution that molded and shaped him  into a man  of valor he is today.
On the 17th  Day of March 2017, Nwosu   made another mark in his contribution to his alma matta when he Laid the foundation stone for the immediate commencement of the building of a Students Union Secretariat.
Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is happily married to an amiable and delatable Mrs. Uloma Nwosu (Nee Okorocha) and the marriage is currently blessed with three precious boys
