Presently, there is no day that passes without mischief makers creating frivolous articles against Senator SamDaddy Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The latest story tagged, “SamDaddy Is Out To Destroy PDP” was written by one Amby Uneze, am Mbaise son and kinsman to a two times PDP Governorship candidate, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha. Amby Uneze is also a strong supporter and fan of his brother who is also eyeing the PDP Guber ticket in the 2023 elections.

This is not the first article Amby Uneze has written against the PDP National Secretary, Senator SamDaddy Anyanwu and can never be the last. The truth of the matter is that, all these frivolous and empty stories against SamDaddy make him stronger, popular and draws more supporter to him.

However, while we encourage Amby Uneze and his likes to continue with their shadow chasing and mischief making, we had expected that such badly written articles against the National Scribe of the party they claim to members would have come from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are obviously our major enemies to fight.

Regrettably, such wicked, empty, diversionary and frivolous articles or stories are coming from supporters and kinsmen of a known desperate Governorship aspirant, who is indeed, a self acclaimed leader of the party in his own right.

It is shameful for a sane person to imagine or believe that a National Secretary of a political party as PDP can work against the platform he is a major beneficiary as a mole. This is the story Amby Uneze and their cohorts are struggling to paint not knowing that our party members are aware of those craftily destroying PDP In Imo.

What Amby Uneze and cohorts in the habit of creating fictional articles do not know is that Senator SamDaddy Anyanwu is more PDP than them and their sponsors.

Making uncomplimentary remarks or statements against the National Secretary of PDP, otherwise known as the engine room of the party, is like when one assume to be more catholic than the Pope.

What we do not know is whether they are aware that Senator SamDaddy, as National Secretary of PDP is authorized by the party’s constitution to sign all documents, forms and its likes. Who else can do that if not Senator SamDaddy Anyanwu?

Amby Uneze, for the records of the public is a known rabble rouser who dabbles into various political issues when money is involved.

Amby Uneze is confused and does not know which direction to take. He claims to be Journalist yet, has remained unstable especially, during election year.

Amby Uneze, despite his little knowledge about Imo politics has allowed himself to be overwhelmed and beclouded with ethnic chauvinism, clannishness and primitivism to override his good sense judgement.

A situation where a person like Amby Uneze claiming to be a member of our party is bereft of the administrative organogram of the party has much to be desired.

We had observed their calmness some weeks ago until our National Secretary, Senator Sandaddy Anyanwu tenaciously and tactically inaugurated a council to ensure the victory of our party in the 2023 elections.

A feat Amby Uneze’s benefactor cannot achieve except his desperation to realize his selfish Governorship ambition. An ambition that has eluded him for two consecutive uninterrupted times at the detriment of our party and its members.

Our advise is that, Amby Uneze should please tell his sponsor to embark on issue based campaign and shun politics of vindictiveness, name calling/dropping, and greed.

Until Amby Uneze’s sponsor applies all relevant principles of democracy and avoid wicked politicking and shadow chasing, our party can perhaps, give them attention if possible.

The birth of Samuel in the Holy Bible was a fulfillment of the promise by God and it heralded unquantifiable joy in the life of Hannah and Elkanah. SAMUEL was a PRAYER answered. He represented a promise made and kept. Hannah asked God for a child and vowed to dedicate him to the service of God. Hannah’s prayer was answered with the birth of Samuel. Hannah didn’t renege on her promise to dedicate Samuel to God while Samuel himself embraced God’s with joy.

The name SAMUEL stands for prayer answered and promise kept, IMO STATE is undoubtedly in dire need of a SAMUEL in this critical moment of her chequered history. The last time Imo State had a Samuel was between 1979 to 1983 when SAMUEL Mbakwe reigned as Governor of old Imo State. Dee Sam, as he was fondly called was elected on the platform of Nigerian People’s Party (NPP). During electioneering campaigns, Dee Sam made promises to Imo people and kept them. Dee Sam Mbakwe massively transformed Imo State by providing motorable and durable roads, industries, pipe borne water, built schools, provided electricity, etc that are still standing across the entire (old) Imo State till date.

The legacy projects of Dee SAM Mbakwe include:

1. Imo State University (now Abia State University, Uturu).

These and more projects of Dee Sam really put smiles on the face of the people and employed numerous youths across the state . Sam Mbakwe was a prayer answered because his coming was at a time when the pains of military dictatorship was almost unbearable. Dee Sam Mbakwe came as a redeemer and wiped the tears from Imo people’s eyes. He took the whole Imo State as his own constituency. It is in the light of his outstanding performance that he carved a niche for himself in the history books of Imo State. Although, he is no more, his sterling legacies lives on in the hearts of Imo people and left his footprints on the sands of time. Imo State will ever remain grateful to him. Even generations yet unborn will sing his praises for the great and selfless services he rendered to Imolites. His memory will remain evergreen in the hearts of Imolites.

Since Dee Sam Mbakwe left the stage, Imo State has been struggling to get another SAMUEL, a man who will serve selflessly and keep to his words. Virtually all the governors that reigned after Dee Sam did not meet the expectations of the people. They merely massaged the sufferings of Imolites instead of alleviating them. Imolites have been praying for the “reincarnation” of Dee Sam Mbakwe to continue with his laudable projects. Imolites have been praying for a man who can step into the huge shoes Dee Sam left behind. As the search continues, many well-meaning sons of Imo State have been pointing towards Senator SAMUEL Anyanwu, popularly called Samdaddy as another Samuel in the “order” of Sam Mbakwe. Many surveys have projected him as a good man with overflowing integrity capable of defeating the incumbent governor. They also see him as a man who has the capacity to wipe the tears of Imolites as Dee Sam Mbakwe did. This survey might not be unconnected with his leadership qualities and numerous landmark achievements when he was Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA, two term member of Imo State House of Assembly and Distinguished Senator for Owerri Zone. As Chairman of Ikeduru, Samdaddy transformed the LGA and made his people proud that earned him the sobriquet, “ACTION CHAIRMAN”. His commitmen to good governance is legendary and this earned him a PROMOTION by Ikeduru people to the Imo State House of Assembly where he made his marks in people oriented legislations, representation and oversight. He made sound contributions on the floor of the House which kept the government of the day on its toes.

The election of Samdaddy to the Senate in 2015 did not come to the people by surprise because of his outstanding performance as a member of Imo State House of Assembly. Infact, Samdaddy’s elevation from House of Assembly to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria apart from being the first time by any Imo born politician, is also a testimony that good work pays. As a Senator Samuel Anyanwu attracted many road projects and jobs to his constituency. He sponsored many bills and motions which helped to checkmate the executive. Samdaddy was a legislator per excellence. A man who moved a motion for the impeachment of President Buhari at a time his other colleagues hardly aired their views on national issues.

Out of his desire to clean the rot of bad leadership in Imo State, Samdaddy contested the 2019 governorship primary election of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but enemies of Imo frustrated his plans by foisting an unpopular candidate by crooked means on the party. This sabotage led to the enthronement of the current APC government in the state. It wouldn’t have been so if Senator Samuel Anyanwu was not rigged out in the 2019 primary election of PDP.

As a staunch member of Imo PDP, he helped to keep the party alive and strong despite the machinations of his political enemies to ostracize him. Senator Samuel Anyanwu is a man who every member of PDP knows his capacity and can relate with him. His uncommon humility and integrity endeared him to members of PDP in Imo State, Southeast and Nigeria when they unanimously elected National Secretary during the last National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. This is sign that the party acknowledges the leadership qualities of Samdaddy. As National Secretary of PDP, Samdaddy has shown capacity by putting machinery in motion to revive the party at all levels for electoral victory. He has brought back disgruntled members to the party in Imo State and beyond.

There have been speculations that Senator Samdaddy will contest the governorship seat of Imo in the next election. Although, he hasn’t declared formally but there is a general feeling that Imolites are anticipating his entry into the race with calls from different quarters for Samuel Anyanwu to throw his hat into the goveenorship ring. This might not be unconnected to his sterling qualities and achievements as Council Chairman, State Legislator, Senator and currently, National Scribe of his party. Samuel Mbakwe and Samuel Anyanwu have striking resemblance, characteristics and personality. It’s beyond being namesakes. Both of them represent what “SAMUEL” stands for; which is a prayer answered and promise kept based on their antecedents.

As Imolites waits with bated breath, we pray God to touch Senator SAMUEL Anyanwu to declare officially for the governorship seat of Imo to enable him step into the shoes of the late SAMUEL Mbakwe and continue with his leadership of sincerity and development. Imolites will never rest until another SAMUEL is born in Imo State. Until men like Senator Samuel Anyanwu who represents good governance and credibility ascends the throne, Imolites will continue to cry for the return of SAM MBAKWE. May another Samuel rise “in the order of Mbakwe” and massively transform Imo as Mbakwe did. History beckons as Imolites continue to pray for Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy) to bow to the yearnings of Imolites.

May Imo’s new SAMUEL arise soon and deliver his people.

The time is NOW!

The House of Representatives is scheduled to meet with the Academic Staff Union of the University and other stakeholders in a bid to end the lingering strike embarked upon by the varsity lecturers. Mr Yahaya Danzaria, the Clerk of the House of Representatives disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

The meeting, Danzaria said, would take place on Tuesday at the National Assembly, the House of Representatives wing. “The House of Representatives is deeply concerned about the renewed strike which seems to have defied all efforts made to find a solution or reach an agreement between the Federal Government and the striking University lecturers,” the statement read.

“The House is more worried about the negative consequences of the strike on the future and quality of education of our teeming youths who have been kept at home for the past six months despite the intervention of the House and several well-meaning Nigerians overtime to see that the matter was resolved.” According to him, the planned meeting with ASUU and other critical stakeholders is geared toward finding a lasting solution to the lingering strike embarked upon by ASUU.

Noting that the House was more worried about the negative consequences of the strike on the future and quality of education of the teeming youths, the clerk lamented that the youth had been kept at home for the past seven months despite the intervention of the House and several well-meaning Nigerians over time to see that the matter was resolved.

ASUU had on February 14 declared a nationwide strike pressing home their demands for revitalisation funds for universities, renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, release of earned allowances for university lecturers, and deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution.

Britain said farewell to Queen Elizabeth II on Monday at a state funeral attended by world leaders, before a historic last ceremonial journey through the streets of London packed with sorrowful mourners.

Huge crowds gathered in near silence to watch as the queen’s flag-draped coffin, topped with the Imperial State Crown, her orb and sceptre, was carried slowly to a gun carriage from parliament’s Westminster Hall where it had lain in state since Wednesday. To the tune of pipes and drums, the gun carriage — used at every state funeral since Queen Victoria’s in 1901 — was then drawn by 142 junior enlisted sailors in the Royal Navy to Westminster Abbey.

The thousand-year-old church’s tenor bell tolled 96 times at one-minute intervals — one for every year of her life — stopping a minute before the service began at 11:00 am (1000 GMT). In his funeral sermon, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby praised the queen’s life of duty and service to the UK and Commonwealth. “People of loving service are rare in any walk of life. Leaders of loving service are still rarer,” he told the 2,000 guests, who included US President Joe Biden and Japan’s reclusive Emperor Naruhito.

“But in all cases, those who serve will be loved and remembered,” the Anglican leader added, before the coffin was borne on another procession towards her final resting place in Windsor Castle, west of London.

Some flights were affected on Monday when members of the National Association of Nigerian Students blocked a section of the access road to the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos.

It was gathered that the protesting students carried placards having various inscriptions as they used vehicles to block inbound and outbound traffic from the Ajao to Hajj Camp area of the airport road.

The aggrieved varsity students protesting the seven-month industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities blocked the road around 8 am till press time at 4 pm, a situation that caused gridlock along the axis as the vehicular movement in and out of the airport was stalled.

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says Nigeria may be headed for the rocks over the disregard for rule of law. He stated this in Abuja on Friday during the launch of the book, ‘Legal Paradigm in Nigeria: A New Direction in the Study of Law and Practice,’ in honour of retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Abdul Aboki.

According to the governor, Nigeria and its democracy can only survive if the judicial system is strong and alive. “The Federal Government continues to undermine the rule of law, while political parties and party leaders continue to exhibit utter arrogance and disdain for the electoral laws and the democratic process in their actions and conduct,” the governor was quoted in a statement by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri.

“With cries of injustices, discrimination and inequities everywhere and with the rising instability and deterioration of law and order, only the undiscerning would believe that Nigeria is not headed for the hard rocks.” While blaming ineffective judicial performance on the lack of character, courage, and decency of some judges to live up to their oaths in the discharge of their functions, Wike said democracy and the rule of law are under constant threat, hence, the judiciary must be alive to its responsibilities.

“The judiciary dies where it lies comatose and removed from the aspirations of the citizens for good governance, the rule of law, the protection of fundamental rights and the guarantee of free and fair elections.
