It was President Buhari himself who succinctly captured the true description of what Governor Uzodimma has done in Imo state within this period of two and half years.. The President, while being driven along the internationally standard.reconstructed Orlu/Owerri road penultimate week,  apparently to show his surprise and joy, had looked at Governor Uzodimma tight inside  his eyes and said to him " Your Excellency, you have written your own sorry. I wonder what any Governor would invite me again to commission in his state  that will be more than this" He also repeated this same  statement while addressing a cross section of Imo people that same day.

Two weeks after the president had visited Imo, Governor Uzodimma again  stoned the people  with arguably the biggest of achievements that gladdened the hearts of all Igbo people in general and Imo people in particular. The Governor, few days ago announced the approval he secured from the federal government for the dredging of  the Orashi/Njaba/Oguta lake River down to the Atlantic Ocean that will see to the realization of the first ever Sea Port in the South East. Just two days ago, top officials of the Nigeria Navy and Nigerian Inland Water Ways Authority (NIWA) were in Imo state to fine tune the processes ahead of the commencement of work. They, together with the Governor visited the areas in Oguta LGA.

However, while Imo people savour the concomitant joy attached to  the project, it is  important to point out that these great achievements were only possible because the Governor established and has kept a very cordial relationship with the President and the federal government instead of staying in Imo to attack the centre and the president. So it is right to say that these achievements were the bye products of that relationship. This is just a fact.

It is not easy to have the president visit a state twice with a year and also have the same president obliged to commission projects in the same state three times within 18 months in an administration  that is two and half years. Except, perhaps for the president's own state Kastina state where he regularly visits to observe Muslim festivities, no other state in Nigeria has broken that record except Imo under Uzodimma.

It is an incontrovertible fact that Senator Hope  Uzodimma has shown in clear terms that when other leaders  are sitting down, he is standing up and when they stand up, he gets outstanding. The Governor has done things that hitherto were considered impossible or beyond the capacity of  any state Governor. He has demonstrated an uncommon courage and a clear vision that are rare in many leaders. He has indeed, like an Eagle soared above the sea level. He has shown that he is not at the same thinking level with those who stay here in Imo or  Abuja  to only conjecture  petty gossip and blackmail against the Governor  with the view to dragging him down. While they continue to do this, Uzodimma has continued to show stamina of resistance and has continued  towering.

As the Governor himself had said, the dredging of the Orashi River when completed will  translate to massive economic boom for the South East and has the potential of generating over 350 thousand direct and indirect jobs for the teeming youths of our region. Clearly, this is the biggest project and the key that wlll unlock the latent treasure in the soil of South East zone. It is a salutary development fot the Igbos particularly with the high business velocity of the Igbos. You can imagine having  Ships carrying goods of our businessmen and women from abroad landing here instead of Lagos or Calabar.  It will save billions of naira in landing and clearing cost which in turn will translate to huge revenue and gain to Imo and Anambra states.

It is also instructive to observe that aside from the construction of the two federal roads of Orlu to Owerri and Owerri to Okigwe and the attraction of the dredging of the Orashi River, the governor  has equally attracted some audacious federal government projects here in Imo state. Recall that only few weeks ago, the Governor Sen Hope Uzodimma got the approval of the President to establish a FUTO teaching hospital at FMC Owerri and equally got the federal government to elevate the status of ALVAN Ikoku federal College of Education to now a federal University of education.

Additionally, the Governor equally got the approval of the federal government to award a 10Megawatts hydro electricity sub station at the novel Balllon technology site at Otamiri/Nwaorie River. This, when actualized will ensure an interrupted power supply in the state particularly within Owerri Urban with a boom in business.  These are laudable projects that could only be achieved in a state that has a visionary leader like Hope Uzodimma. And also in a state that has a good relationship with the centre which is a departure from what obtained in the past when such relationship was stunted.

Overall, what these imply is that Imo state has a Governor who is prepared and equipped for leadership. Imo has a man who thinks and looks while standing on the shoulders of Giants. Imo has a Governor who has developed a strong impunity against all forms of infectious blackmail and pull Him down Syndrome in the state. I therefore glorify God that I have as a Boss a man who is behind these unprecedented and great achievements.

Truthfully Yours, Nwamkpa Modestus is my name and I approve of this piece.

Onetime Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha has emphatically stated that his vision for Ndigbo was to succeed Alhaji Atiku Abubakar after his tenure as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ihedioha maintained that the joy to succeed Atiku was what drives his courage to canvass for his victory in the 2023 election, adding that despite the undue agitation by the people of South East to vote the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, he would never be deterred by the noise.

He made this disclosure at Base Event Center while answering questions from newsmen Tuesday, at the South East PDP Stakeholders meeting in Enugu.

The former federal lawmaker insisted that he would continue to support Atiku Abubakar to win the 2023 election irrespective of whatever name some hired jobless youths call him on social media.

According to him, “it’s non of anybody’s business that am supporting Atiku for President. This is because, as a politician on ground, I have not seen any seriousness or credibility in our brother, Peter Obi to warrant me to support his ambition. The best thing for us to do now is to allow Atiku first. His emergence as President is a sure guarantee for an Igbo person to take over”

Ihedioha further said that politics does not thrive on sentiment nor hinge on tribal pity, adding that nothing would ever push him to make a U-turn in his quest to ensuring that Atiku wins the 2923 Presidential election.

He described as miscreants, those criticizing his speech during the celebration of Mbaise new yam festival in Ghana, advising those calling him unprintable names to look for something to do rather than making him more popular.

- Demands Assent To SEDC Bill, as Divine Mandate Movement Steals Show

National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has rejected the claim by President Muhammadu Buhari that Ndigbo are dot in a circle, assuring that soon, the rejected stone shall be the Chief corner stone.

According to him, the people of the South East have played a major role in the sustenance of the country’s unity, and wondered why they have remained the sacrificial lamb 62 years after independence.

Anyanwu maintained that until issues affecting the zone were addressed without considering ethnic sentiments, the clamour for the unity of the country would continue to remain in doubt.

Anyanwu therefore assured the people of the zone of PDP’s preparedness to correct every injustice against the South East, noting that such move could only be possible if leaders would team up together in one voice.

Speaking further, the PDP National Scribe, called on the party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to look into the marginalization of the South East Zone and ensure that justice was done if elected President of the country.

Anyanwu said that the continued withholding of Presidential assent to the South East Development Commission (SEDC) Bill by the APC government led by Muhammadu Buhari was the root cause of insecurity occasioned by the injustice, pointing out that proactive intervention remain the only solution to the lingering political imbalance.

The PDP National Scribe further recalled the invaluable contributions of the people of South East in nation building, expressing optimism that the zone would be the pride of the nation.

He called on Nigerian leaders and critical stakeholders to join hands with other ambassadors of good governance to condemn the obvious suppression of democratic ethos against the Igbo and proffers urgent solution.

Meanwhile, a leading political pressure group in Imo State, Divine Mandate Movement (DMM), Tuesday took over the venue of the South East Zonal Stakeholders meeting convened at the instance of Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Enugu.

The group led by the Chairman, Evang Myke Ikoku and the Director General, Hon Ngozi Ogbu respectively were seen positioned in strategic areas to ensure the event was a huge success.

National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and founder of the group, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP were given warmth reception shortly after being sighted by DMM's delegation.

It can be recalled that, Atiku Abubakar, PDP Presidential candidate, had visited the South East geopolitical zone in continuation of his consultative tour across the country to work out possible modalities to ending political, economic and particularly, marginalization of the Zone once he takes over as President of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Emeka Ihedioha’s body language and utterances are not just thought provoking but now an insult to Ndi Igbo and our quest for fairness, equity and most importantly a President of South East extraction which is occasioned by the marginalization of the region since 1999.

It is understandable that the PDP in their usual cash and carry style of handpicking instead of electing their Presidential candidates skillfully relegated the South and failed to micro-zone the party’s ticket to the South East, a region that has immensely contributed to the growth of the party and has never had a fair share of the Presidency even from the party. These obviously made the likes of Peter Obi to seek for an alternative by dumping the party for Labour Party and Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who has remained in the party become a thorn in the flesh of the party over what he described as “unfair” treatment of the South by PDP.

We are not oblivion of the fact that during the wee days of the PDP Presidential primary election that Emeka Ihedioha worked against the Igbo interest and by extension the South as he connived with his Northern masters to sabotage the efforts of Ndi igbo just for his selfish interest.

It has therefore become more worrisome for a man who has been championing the course of equity and fairness in Imo State over which zone should be allowed to produce the next Governor and in fact became the “Mmegbu adighi mma” crooner could make a disparaging statement against those in support of an Igbo candidate and have refused to support his Northern candidate in the 2023 general election.

Emeka Ihedioha in a viral video that is circulating online during his address at the Iri ji Mbaise festival in Ghana called out Igbos supporting Peter Obi’s Presidential candidacy as saboteurs. He went ahead to say that the APC and PDP are the only contenders in the 2023 Presidential election and if Atiku Abubakar of the PDP emerges, he will handover power to a South Easterner. This is the second time he had publicly spoken against the Peter Obi candidacy in Huston, Texas which was condemned by the host community and every well meaning Igbo man and woman.

As difficult as it is to understand the rationale behind these insensitive and unapologetic statements of Emeka Ihedioha, I am forced to ask, how desperate is Emeka Ihedioha?, Is the “Mmegbu adighi mma” one of his political facades? and what does he stand to gain to see a northerner succeed the incumbent northern President who has almost served for 8 years?

Again, Emeka Ihedioha’s vituperations explains negatively that politics is a game of selfish interest and if not, what can justify the actions of this same man who desperately wants to become the governor of Imo State on the grounds of marginalization but sees no evil in the continuous marginalization of Ndi igbo in our national politics.

Whatever Emeka Ihedioha claims to have warranted his actions and words against Ndi igbo and her quest to be integrated into the mainstream of our national politics, we will definitely remind him of his brazen betrayal and as well pay him back in his own coin.
