Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State have taken a swipe at a former lawmaker, Emeka Ihedioha for attacking the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu after he visited the state Working Committee to interact with them on party’s way forward.

The leaders who issued the warning under the auspices of Imo PDP Stakeholders League asked Ihedioha to cover his face in shame for hijacking monies realized from primaries and meant for the offsetting of salary arrears of staff of the party in Imo.

In a release signed by High Chief Nicholas Osuigwe (Coordinator), Barr Chukwuka Ibekwe (Secretary), and Lolo Joy Ngharamike (PRO) respectively, the group said that due to the hijack of party funds by Ihedioha and cohorts, PDP could not pay its staff salary for over year.

The statement reads:

Press Release

IMO PDP STAKEHOLDERS LEAGUE

24 Hours After Visit To Imo SWC Members: Ihedioha Unleashes Media Attack On Senator Anyanwu, PDP

It is regrettable to inform our party members, leaders, critical stakeholders and the public that twenty four (24) hours after our National Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu met with the members of the State Working Committee of PDP in Imo state on a one day working visit, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has unleashed media attack to give the visit a bad impression with a view to embarrassing our party and its National Scribe.

We are appalled that all efforts by party leaders to bring good name and membership boost to PDP has always been viewed by Chief Ihedioha and his supporters as threat to their political future, hence the only way to remain on ground is to destabilize our party at all cost.

It is worthy to remind our leaders, critical stakeholders and committed members that the visit to the state party secretariat by the National Secretary has been described by Chief Ihedioha and his supporters as the return of a prodigal son.

Painfully, during the visit to our party office, the state Chairman, Engr Charles Ugwuh, Secretary, Nze Ray Emeana and the Organizing Secretary, Law Biaduo separately gave stricken revelation that the party’s staff have been owed for over one year salary without anyone saying anything, including Ihedioha, who parades himself as the owner of Imo PDP.

It is regrettable to inform our teaming supporters that this is happening after the said Emeka Ihedioha has held our party structure on the jugular by hijacking all monies realized from the sale of forms, few months after the party’s primaries in the state.

We are aware that some of the monies earmarked for the purposes of offsetting the salary arrears of our party staff was ceased and diverted to private use by Emeka Ihedioha and his cohorts.

It is therefore shameful that after claiming to be the sole “Lord” and leader of our party in the state, Emeka Ihedioha has not deemed it fit to release or donate any dime to the SWC to assist in offsetting the salary wage bill of our party staff. The most painful part of it is that most of these staff have families they cannot carter for again due to this inhuman treatment by Ihedioha.

Our pain is not that Emeka Ihedioha has successfully made away with all funds meant for our party, but his continued insistence that he will not release any dime to enable the leadership of our party in the state pay the staff is most unwholesome and wicked.

It is our firm belief that PDP is currently in dire need of funds, and we thank the National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu for donating N7 million to party members and N500, 000 to the staff of our party as urgent palliative respectively.

We also warn members of the SWC not to allow Emeka Ihedioha any access to the N7.5 million donated by our National Secretary during the one day working visit, as doing so will amount to complicit and betrayal of trust reposed in them at this critical time.

As leaders and members of Imo PDP Stakeholders League, we condemn the attitude of Emeka Ihedioha and his supporters for doing everything possible to drag our party image to the mud.

Signed

- We’ll Support You: Ugwuh Assures Nat’l Scribe

National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has stated the party’s readiness to have a landslide victory in the 2023 elections, and charged members to rise to occasion.

Senator Anyanwu disclosed this weekend during a one day working visit to Imo state in company of select members of the National Working Committee of the party.

In his address made available to newsmen, Senator Anyanwu maintained that the visit was to interact with various states executive committees with a view to finding lasting solutions to problems that may destabilize the party if unattended to.

He said, “it’s a major responsibility and obligation I owe to my state particularly, the South East to ensure that our party is strengthened and positioned to sustain its stronghold in the Zone. There is no mistaken the fact that the South East Zone is a strong base of PDP despite the circumstances surrounding the loss of Imo and Ebonyi states to the APC. It is something we must all work assiduously to recover in the coming elections”

“There have been wrong insinuations from some skeptics about the preparedness of our party to go into the 2023 elections. My answer to that is that our party is fully prepared.”

Anyanwu therefore regretted the level of media attacks against him without reason, adding that such attacks were only targeted at distracting his vision for service delivery.

“It is on the records that my position as the National Secretary has suffered the greatest disrespect only from Imo state. Since my emergence and assumption of office, every effort has been made severally by some disgruntled individuals to malign my person. It bordered me that in all the attacks and misleading allegations, the party in Imo state did not make any attempt to call me for clarification on the issues I was accused of. I see such as part of the orchestrated mischief to destabilize our party but I was never deterred because I knew, I am innocent”

The PDP National Scribe also urged the leadership of the party to solve party problems administratively without taken side, noting that issues of threats of dismissal to any officer of the party must stop.

Anyanwu therefore advised that as a party in opposition, every efforts must be made to attract membership that would help strengthen the party, appealing to SWC members to work towards reconciling aggrieved members to avoid loosing them to other parties.

Reacting, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Charles Ugwuh pledged the party’s resolve to support the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu in ensuring that he succeeds.

According to Chief Ugwuh, the only way for the party to win the 2023 election was to massively support Senator Anyanwu, adding that all indices show that he would deliver and bring victory to PDP in the state.

“On behalf of Imo PDP, we shall do everything possible to support you and ensure that you deliver and bring victory to our party. We are convinced that you are a great son who is always ready to make a change and bring unity, cooperation and cohesion to our party”

Chief Ugwuh further called on members of the party across the state to close ranks with the National Scribe, expressing optimism that PDP would emerge victorious if he remains on the front burner of the party.

Adding his voice, State Secretary of the party, Nze Ray Emeana said that anyone undermining the position of the National Secretary of the party or his person for any reason was only out for a fruitless venture.

While describing Senator Anyanwu as a good man who is currently the eye of the party, further thanked him for charging party members to embark on membership drive to boost its chances of victory in 2023.

As the search for the next governor of Imo State gradually heats up, various groups have been intensifying the search for a man who can lead Imo State into uncommon prosperity and development such as was witnessed under Dee Sam Mbakwe and in other states like Ebonyi, Rivers, Anambra, Lagos of recent.

Political leaders with the passion for selfless service are rare gifts from God and very difficult to find in our clime and time. Many political analysts and pundits so far have recommended men fresh ideas and pedigree that can steer Imo out of its current quagmire.

Based on the qualities recommended so far, it’s gradually becoming clearer where the pendulum is swinging to. One man is clearly and undoubtedly endowed with the unbeatable qualities and credentials to clean the rot of leadership deficit in Imo State, and he is SENATOR SAMUEL NNAEMEKA ANYANWU (Samdaddy).

Born on 18th June, 1965 in Amaimo Ikeduru LGA of Imo State. SamDaddy, as he is fondly called had his primary education at Central School Amaimo before proceeding to Amaimo High School. Samuel Anyanwu later proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt where he studied Political Science and Administrative Studies.

The political sojourn of SamDaddy started in 2003 with his appointment as Transition Committee Chairman of Ikeduru LGA. In 2004, he was elected Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA and Secretary of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). Owing to his superlative performance as Council Chairman, he was christened “ACTION” by his colleagues and fans for his leadership wonders.

SamDaddy was elected into Imo State House of Assembly in 2007 and was appointed the House Committee Chairman on Ethics and Privileges. He was re-elected for a second tenure in 2011.

The people of Owerri zone saw the sterling legislative qualities of SamDaddy as a state legislator and decided to promote him to the Senate during the 2015 general elections. A rare feat in Imo State yet to be beaten till date. Samdaddy is a jinx breaker.

In the Senate, SamDaddy’s legislative experience earned him Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics,  Privileges and Public Petitions where he performed excellently. This Committee never thrived until Samdaddy chaired it no minding the fact that he was a first timer then. But again, Samdaddy broke the jinx as a first time Senator to head such a sensitive Committee. He was also Vice Chairman of three different Senate Committees where he brought his leadership qualities to bear.

The legislative experience of SamDaddy earned him the National Assembly Press Corps “Best Senate Committe Chairman Award” in 2016. SamDaddy has won several awards in recognition of his outstanding performance in leadership and development which are too numerous to mention.

In a bid to ensure good governance and development in Owerri zone, the South East and Nigeria at large, the following BILLS were sponsored by Senator SamDaddy:

1. Bill for an Act to Establish the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

2.Bill for an Act to Establish Postgraduate Physiotherapy College of Nigeria

3. Bill for an Act to Establish Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri (From College to University)

4. A Re-Enactment Bill on the Public Complaints Commission Act, CAP P37 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

5. A Bill for an Act to Establish The Federal Task Force on Revenue Defaulters, Piracy and National Heritage Protection of Nigeria.

A landmark motion which stabilized the squabbles that engulfed the Senate following the emergence of Bukola Saraki of APC, as President and Ike Ekweremadu of PDP, as Deputy Senate President contrary to the wishes of APC leadership.

2. Mandating State Governors to conduct Local Government Elections on assumption of office.

3. The urgent need for the Senate to look into the Amnesty Programme Performance in the Niger Delta region (Imo state inclusive as oil producing state)

4. The Looming crises in the Aviation Industry, a potential danger to Air safety and operations.

5. The pertinent need to Establish Modern Abattoirs across the states of the Federation.

He ensured equitable distribution of his constituency projects in the form social amenities and infrastructures to the communities that make up his constituency. During his grand civic reception as PDP National Secretary in Owerri, the mood of the mammoth crowd that gathered in his honour spoke volumes; the billboards, banners and placards everywhere “spoke” louder. The overwhelming joy in Imo State on that day indicates that Imolites are really awaiting the emergence of SamDaddy. They need his sterling leadership qualities to clean the rot of bad governance that’s currently stinking in all parts of Imo State.

Yes, many well meaning Imolites have been calling on Senator SamDaddy to listen to the yearnings of Imolites and make himself available for this all important task of pulling Imo out of the current quagmire and leadership vacuum, corruption and bad leadership.
