_ Say, ex Reps D-Spkr yet to invest any kobo in Atiku-Okowa's project in Imo

Owerri_ members of the Imo PDP Presidential Campaign Council and Management Committee has condemned sponsored attacks targeted at the leadership of the Campaign Management Committee on the State.

Rising from the Imo PCC meeting on Wednesday, the deputy director, Subcommittee on Support Groups and member of the National Campaign Council, Evang Myke Ikoku described the sponsored media attacks and protest a rantings from failed coup' plotters.

Addressing a section of the media at the Atiku-Okowa Campaign Office Opposite National Correctional Services, along Okigwe road, Owerri identified those behind the stage-managed protests as well as sponsored media attacks against the Director General of Imo PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Hon Greg Egu.

Continuing, Ikoku said engineers of the unruly behavior are hell bent on creating crisis in the party in their desperate bid to portray Hon Greg Egu in bad light.

When asked about those fueling crisis rocking the Imo PDP PCC, Ikoku disclosed that a prominent governorship aspirant in the party who is afraid of contesting the guber ticket with other aspirants in the party is behind the sponsored malicious media reports against leadership of the Imo PCC.

The furious Ikoku said " I won't keep quiet and allow some politicians destroy the image of the Director General of Imo PDP PCC just because Egu has refused to join issues with the mischief makers.

For purposes of clarity, I wish to inform the the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha is only interested in the funds allocated for the presidential campaign operations, he is not interested if our candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar wins or not.

His primary agenda is to hijack the funds and distribute at his discretion but unfortunately, Hon Greg Egu is not that kind of man you will try such with.

As I speak to you, Ihedioha has not invested a kobo in the Atiku-Okowa Campaign project in the state instead he is laying ambush on how to displace the Director General of the Campaign Council, Egu so as for him to field in any of his surrogates to lead the campaign. No wonder on daily basis, we wake up to read one malicious media report and the other with unfounded claims of Misappropriation of fund, all targeted at tarnishing the image of some leaders in the Imo PDP PCC.

It's on record that we have several factions in the party and all are eyeing the goveenorship ticket of the party and what is expected of us is to close ranks and fashion out strategy on how to solicit votes for our presidential candidate ahead next year's February election in favor of our candidate.

The Campaign office of Atiku-Okowa was personally secured and furnished by an individual and no other person than the National Secretary of PDP, Sen Samuel Anyanwu, Samdaddy, we expect other governorship aspirants to also invest in the presidential campaign of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar instead of plotting to divert funds for personal gains that is detrimental to our collective agenda which is to deliver our presidential candidate in the forthcoming general election.

Also Ikoku said, " it will interest you to know that the Imo PCC disbursement prior to the visit of Atiku was approved by the former deputy speaker, Hon Emeka Ihedioha as the persons who collected funds for the various subcommittees signed before they received any fund. We are aware of Ihedioha's plans to retain one of his surrogates as the Director General of Imo PCC but was resisted by swift intervention of some leaders in the state.

Failing in their ploy to impose the Imo PDP PCC DG, they have sworn to continue to create crisis in the party through their daily sponsored protests and media attacks. Let me also inform Imo people that I was accussed of diversion of funds and I beg to ask if am the DG of the Imo PDP PCC or Chairman of the Imo PDP PCC, Ikoku said.

I have endured insults from Ihedioha's media handlers and my offense is simply my opposing imposition of Ihedioha as sole Governorship Candidate of Imo PDP and my decision on that is irreversible.

A former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, has come under heavy criticism for allegedly sponsoring publication in some local tabloids as regards his endorsement and support by Atiku Abubakar during last Saturday's presidential campaign rally in Imo State.

In a video that had since gone viral on social media, the Presidential Candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was seen asking if Imolites will vote Ihedioha and the response of the mammoth crowd was edited in favor of Ihedioha according to report.

NewsGaztte gathered ever since the attention of the National Campaign Council Team of PDP as well as the Presidential Candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar were drawn to the trending video, Ihedioha has been under fire for attempting to frame the presidential candidate, Atiku into his purported guber endorsement saga.

It was learnt that the video trending on several social media platforms alledging Atiku's endorsement of Ihedioha and syndicated by his media handlers has in the last couple of days caused ripples in the party and Imo State in general.

Our political correspondent gathered that Atiku's visit to Imo State rekindled hope and chances of the party to garner votes in the state not minding  earlier decision reached by the electorates particularly from Southeast who threatened not to vote for the PDP presidential candidate as a result of the inflammatory remarks made by Hon Emeka Ihedioha in far away Ghana where he described Igbos as Saboteurs for supporting Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate.

According to an impeccable source who pleaded on condition of anonymity disclosed that Ihedioha was advised by his allies in the National Campaign Council Team from bringing in his governorship reelection ambition during Atiku's visit to Imo but the unassuming Ihedioha according to the source was able to lobby a close aid of the presidential candidate which led to the name of Ihedioha being mentioned why the Presidential Candidate was about concluding his speech. Meanwhile, the leadership of the National Campaign Team of Atiku/Okowa had since the trending controversial video has requested for the footage of the presidential candidate's speech at the Ndubuisi Kalu Square in Imo.

Also, hard copies of the Newspaper publication particularly the Imo based local tabloids has also been sent across for attention of the National PCC.

Also, the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has been put on notice as well.

According to a PDP Chieftain and former House of Assembly member who represented Okigwe State Constituency, Hon Damian Ogu during a phone in Radio Program on Boss Radio FM on Monday described the trending video as a figment of imagination of the perpetrators. According to him " Our Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar did not endorse any governorship aspirant in Imo State during his Saturday's visit and I wish to state that Atiku is so experienced to play into Ihedioha's bumpy trap. I was at the rally and there was nothing like endorsement as published in some print media", he said.

Furthermore, several party faithful and Some members who are nursing ambition of contesting the governorship primaries are angry and threatening that Ihedioha must be sanctioned by the party for portraying our Presidential Candidate as a non Democrat emanating from the purported endorsment of an aspirant when the party is yet to conduct its primaries.

Morocco became the first African nation to reach a World Cup semi-final and ended the hopes of Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.

Striker Youssef En-Nesyri scored the winning goal in the first half, leaping highest to beat goalkeeper Diogo Costa to the ball and heading in to spark pandemonium at Al Thumama Stadium.

The north African side's supporters populated most of the venue and joyously celebrated their breakthrough moment on the global stage.

Ronaldo came off the bench in the 50th minute to equal the men's all-time appearance record of 196 in international matches, but he could not drag his side back into the contest.

Morocco, who will face England or France in the last four, were happy to play on the counter and grabbed the opener just before the break when En-Nesyri headed in from Yahya Attiyat-Allah's cross.

Portugal skipper Bruno Fernandes came agonisingly close to levelling just minutes later but a brilliant individual effort struck the crossbar.

Decimated by injuries, Morocco sat back for the majority of the second half and Yassine Bounou brilliantly tipped over Joao Felix's drive - the closest they came to an equaliser.

Morocco striker Walid Cheddira was sent off for a second yellow card in eight minutes of additional time but Portugal could not find the equaliser as their last-four hopes were dashed.

Three African sides had previously reached this stage of the World Cup but none had progressed any further. Until now.

The marvellous Moroccan players and fans rejoiced as En-Nesyri's header on 42 minutes proved to be the pivotal moment.

Fans whistled and jeered every pass the Portuguese players made and then the rowdiest section behind the goal seemed to suck the ball into the net.

Walid Regragui's side were missing West Ham's Nayef Aguerd, Bayern Munich's Noussair Mazraoui and lost captain Romain Saiss to injury early in the second period.

But they defended resolutely and frustrated Portugal to keep their seventh clean sheet in eight games under their boss and have conceded just once in this tournament.

Morocco are a tough proposition and buoyed on by a partisan crowd in Doha, they will present a difficult challenge to whoever they face in the last four on Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Bounou, earning his 50th cap, pushed away a header from Felix early on and a deflected strike flew narrowly over.

Morocco had carved out the better opportunities on the break but En-Nesyri sent two free headers off target and Sofiane Boufal's curler was straight at Costa.

In his desperation for an equaliser, Fernando Santos sent on Ronaldo early in the second half but the 37-year-old - who equalled Kuwait striker Bader Al-Mutawa's international caps record - found it difficult to make any impact.

Having seen rival Lionel Messi reach the semi-finals on Friday, Ronaldo could not do the same with his side on what is likely to be his final World Cup appearance, trudging down the tunnel in tears at full-time as his dream was over.
