The political tussle in the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has taken a deadly dimension following the kidnap and murder of a chieftain of the party, Amos Akano.

Akano , until his gruesome killing, was the Director -General of Ezihe Foundation, one of the groups supporting the governorship ambition of the Chief of Staff to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Mr. Uche Nwosu.

He hailed from Nkwerre Local Government Area, the same LGA with Nwosu.
He was an ally of the state governor’s camp and had been seen several times at state government functions.

According to his kinsman, Martins Nwadike, who confirmed the murder to our correspondent on Thursday , the deceased was kidnapped on the eve of the just concluded APC national convention.

He was said to be travelling home (Nkwerre) from Owerri, the state capital , when gunmen suspected to be hired assassins blocked him along the Isu -Njaba road and kidnapped him immediately.

When the APC members returned to the state after the national convention, where two factions loyal to the governor and other chieftains of the party from the state clashed while President Muhammadu Buhari was addressing the delegates, Akano ’s corpse was found .

Nwadike said, “He was kidnapped on Friday, a day to the APC national convention. He was travelling home from Owerri to Nkwerre, our home town . The gunmen blocked him on the Isu -Njaba road.

“They made away with him . His corpse was found after the national convention. This is very saddening and highly devastating.

“Desperate politicking has no place in a decent democracy. The deceased was a gentleman. He was educated and civil in all his dealings.

“We urge the security agencies to bring his killers to book. Imo is not known for violent politicking.

Those who take away human lives in order to ascend to political positions would be disappointed in 2019.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, had yet to respond to the text message sent to his phone.

The house further set up a disciplinary committee, headed by Lawman Duruji, Henry Ezediaro, Uche Agabige, and Ikechukwu Amuka.

The affected lawmakers are however suspended indefinitely, until the Committee concludes investigations.

Ameborave.com learnt on Tuesday that the deceased student was a final year student in the Department of Theatre Arts , who was expected to graduate in August.
It was learnt that she slept in her hostel room with her lover on Sunday but both of them could not wake up the next day ( Monday).

A neighbour, who craved anonymity, said it was the smell from the deceased room that alerted other occupants who had returned from school that something was wrong.

She said, “The students came back from school and started inhaling very offensive smell and on inquiry, it was discovered that it was from Blessing Amam’s room.

“Her flat mates called her but she did not respond . The door was forcefully opened and behold , Blessing and her lover were found dead . There were blood stains and marks on their bodies. Blood equally gushed out from their mouths and nostrils.”

The source, who expressed worry over the circumstances that could have led to the death of the suspected lovers, maintained that the deceased were full of life the night before, adding that there was no indication that they were in any trouble or distress in the room that night .

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem , who confirmed the incident said, “It was a case of sudden and unnatural death.” He, however, said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dasuki Galandanchi, had ordered an investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of the lovers.

“It is confirmed. It is a case of sudden and unnatural death . The commissioner of police has called for a thorough investigation into the matter. On receipt of the information , our men at Mbieri division rushed to the scene of the incident .

“The necessary information that aid investigation process has been collected but we call on the members of the public that have pieces of information that will help us unravel the circumstances that led to the death to please come forward ,” he said.

Mr Citizen Samuelson Iwuoha is a socio-political crusader, he petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission about the shady deals of the former Speaker Imo state House of Assembly and the Senator Representing Okigwe zone in Imo state. Hear him:

5th June, 2018.

The Acting Chairman,
Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC)
WUSE II Abuja
Nigeria

Sir,

CRIMINAL CONVERSION OF IMO STATE GOVERNMENT PROPERTY (ASPHALT DRUM MIX  PLANT AND CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT) TO PERSONAL PROPERTY BY FORMER SPEAKER BENJAMIN CHUKWUEMEKA UWAJUMOGU AND WERDIS NIGERIA LIMITED.

My name is Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha, a well known socio-political crusader in Nigeria, of Imo State origin. I am a former Senior Special Assistant on Media at the Imo State House of Assembly. I also served as Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties at the same Imo State House of Assembly, between 14th June 2011 and 17th December 2013.

My nature as a sociopolitical crusader does not allow me to keep quiet when abnormalities and fraudulent activities go on in my environment. Hence, I have been of immense assistance to the current war against corruption and criminalities by the President Mohammadu Buhari led Federal Government.

I am therefore bringing to your attention, for urgent action, the criminal conversion of Imo State Government Property (Asphalt Drum Mix Plant and Construction Equipment) to personal property by the immediate Past Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly (2011 to 2015) Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu and his private company (WERDIS NIGERIA LIMITED).

It is my belief that this petition will be attended to and justice done, for the government and people of Imo State. I say this because a similar petition against this same man (Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu) dated 18th February 2014 and addressed to the then Chairman of EFCC (Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde) with
documented evidences was swept under the carpet, after he reportedly compromised his exalted office.

In 2011, when His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha was inaugurated as the Executive Governor of Imo State, the new administration had in mind to pursue aggressive construction and indeed rehabilitation of both urban and rural roads in the State. But due to the poor financial base of the state, it could not be possible to achieve the goal through contract awards only. However, the State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport had qualified personnel who could be deployed to work on the said roads, but the only impediment to achieving the objectives was lack of Construction Equipment and Asphalt Drum Mix Plant.

To this end, the Ministry of Works Housing and Transport,  through it’s then Commissioner, who was also the State Deputy Governor, Chief Sir Jude Agbaso wrote a letter (No. MOW/COMM/S.1/VI/55) to His Excellency the Governor, on the 13th of October 2011, informing him that after due deliberations that the Imo State Tenders Board had approved that WERDIS NIGERIA LIMITED be awarded the contract to supply the required Construction Equipment and Asphalt Drum Mix Plant at the cost of N213,262,500.00 (Two Hundred and Thirteen Million, two Hundred
and Sixty two thousand five Hundred naira) only.

His Excellency the Governor was therefore requested to release the stated sum of money to the Ministry of Works in payment for the supplies of the Construction Equipment and Asphalt Drum Mix Plant. Accordingly, on that same 13th October, 2011, Governor Okorocha graciously approved the release of the sum of N213,262,500,00 to WERDIS NIGERIA LIMITED in respect of the above supplies. It should be noted that the approval letter was endorsed by the following people.

(1)     His Excellency the Governor,
(2)     The Deputy Governor/Hon. Commissioner of Works,
(3)     The Accountant General of Imo State.

Consequently, steps were taken and the said amount was released to WERDIS NIG. LTD. However, WERDIS NIG. LTD  has refused to supply the said equipment to the State Government through the Ministry of Works. Rather, WERDIS NIG. LTD used the funds (money) approved to it for the supplies, to build a private Asphalt Drum Mix Plant and Construction Equipment located at Onitsha road behind Coca-cola Plant Owerri Imo State.

Through diligent Investigations, it was discovered that WERDIS NIG. LTD is owned by the then Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, who used his exalted office to secure contracts for his private company, which was and still being managed by his immediate younger  brother, Mr. Nnadozie Uwajumogu. All efforts made so far to recover the said Construction Equipment and Asphalt Drum Mix Plant from Former Speaker Benjamin Uwajumogu and his younger brother, Mr. Nnadozie Uwajumogu have proved abortive.

As a Socio-political Crusader in Imo State, I am most respectfully calling on you to recover the Asphalt Drum Mix Plant and Construction Equipmen
t from WERDIS NIGERIA LIMITED and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu. I am also calling on you to bring the same Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu and his younger brother Nnadozie Uwajumogu to book.

The fight against fraud, stealing and corruption should be fought with every amount of dedication, sincerity and honesty. We must not allow corruption to overwhelm and kill us. Rather, let us join hands together to kill corruption.

Yours most respectfully,
Hon. Citizen Dr. Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha FCAI, MKDA

Professor Osinbajo was departing the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College In Gwagwalada where he attended the 2018 graduation ceremony of Senior Division Course 1 when his helicopter encountered problems.

Seconds after takeoff, the white coloured helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing for the first time after the aircraft began to emit thick smoke, losing one of its engines.
