Education is an essential part of human life. An individual may use education as a tool to empower and leverage their innate potential, to be productive in society. In addition, the noble and beautiful act of acquiring knowledge through education changes an individual’s perspective of viewing life, thus shaping the character and behaviour of the individual.


To understand Rochas Okorocha, you have to understand his educational philosophy, and deep love, a keen educationist who believes all children deserve the opportunity to attend quality schools and receive the best education possible. For many years, He has supported various educational programs. He believes education should be seen as a right and not a privilege.


In 1998, His Excellency Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha established the Rochas Foundation, a non-governmental organization that was created to provide free qualitative public education to children, restore the dignity and hope of widows, orphans, and the less privileged. Since the inception of the foundation in 1998, over 60,000 plus students have benefitted from scholarships. His Excellency has also trained 1,500 teachers (from other states as well) at all levels. In Imo state he built 546 Twelve-number classrooms upstairs Block for primary schools, Built some secondary schools, and remodelled many.


A philanthropist indeed more of his amiable contributions to the educational sector in Imo state includes:

2. Built National Polytechnic Arondizuogu. 

3. Built Imo State Polytechnic Ehime Mbano. 

4. Built Ahiara Polytechnic Ahiazu Mbaise. 

5. Built Imo State Polytechnic Orlu. 

6. Built University of Medical Sciences Ideato.

7. Built University of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences, Aboh Mbaise/Ngor-Okpala.

8. Built University of Creative Technology. 

9. Built Marine University Oguta (under Construction). 

10. Built Eastern Palm University (PPP) Ogboko. 

11. Built College of Education, Ihitte Uboma.

12. Built Police College Ogboko.

13. Built Young Scientist College Owerri.

14. Built Imo Girls College Owerri.

15. Built Ohaji/Egbema College of Education

16. Rebuilt Government Technical College. 

17. Rebuilt Comprehensive Secondary School Amakohia.

18. Built 305 Upstair School buildings he also introduced Free and qualitative education from Primary to University, Polytechnic, College of Education, etc.

19. Built School Enrolment Snowballed from 267,000 in 2011 to 850,000.

20. The Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo was rebuilt and remodeled by Governor Rochas Okorocha.

21. Imo State University with most of the befitting structures was built by Governor Rochas Okorocha's administration.

22. The number of School Children drastically dropped while hawking on the streets of Owerri got reduced to five percent.


The State has led in JAMB Applications from 2012 to 2018 in the Country, because of the free education program. At the recent education fundraiser held by the Yobe state governor in, Abuja on the 10th of February 2022. Rochas Owelle Anayo Okorocha promised to provide a school infrastructure once the land is given. His Excellency's love for education is outstanding and deeply rooted which triggers his excellency's unrelenting quest to better the educational sector. This is the man Nigeria needs, for a new Nigeria.

44 years ago and these words remain evergreen in the hearts and minds of Nigerians. “Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria’s call obey.” The new Nigeria calls for a pristine spirit, a compassionate spirit, a benevolent spirit alas called a noble spirit. A great nation with growth and purity as her flags colors - green, white and green. Spreading out her rich culture of 250 ethnic groupings with 500 plus languages as well as her exquisite heritage.


His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha a passionate and enthusiastic Nigerian who is in politics not because of what politics can give him but for what he can give. A man who braces himself with the country’s ramifications and her democracy. In 1998 Rochas Foundation was incorporated to serve humanity whilst building a credible future for Africa and this mission has been long-running till this day, a benevolent man indeed.


The new Nigeria calls for inclusiveness of her traditional rulers, and her youth to serve as the bedrock of the nation’s productivity currently over 33.6 million of which 16.8 percent are regarded as youths which span from ages 15 and 35 it is without a shadow of a doubt that the youths major in great talents in the world and the new Nigeria seeks to give these talents even more exposure, women relevance will be sort for because core family values remain imperative.


Contributions will not be ignored because Nigerians continue to stand out in their chosen fields around the world, the armed forces will remain appreciated for severally proving their great love for Nigeria through the endless sacrifice of protecting her nation’s integrity. Education will not be a way of life but life itself not looked at as a privilege but seen as a right. Social production will be solely encouraged. The new Nigeria will be born out of vision and passion.

..... ASKS GOVERNMENT TO POSSIBLY GRANT THEM AMNESTY 

The name, Ekene Nnodumele aka Stainless is not new in the Imo State Political space. He is the Honorable Member representing the good and productive people of Orsu Local Government at the Imo State House of Assembly.

For some time now, the relative Peace once enjoyed in the peaceful and commercial Area has drastically reduced no thanks to Youthful exuberance and some agitations by a section of Youths.

Hon. Ekene Nnodumele is worried over the spate of killings happening in the area and has called for calm. Speaking with Newsmen in Owerri the State Capital, he opined "It is sad that this ugly incident is happening in my Local Government and I call for Peace".

He reiterated the need for Peaceful coexistence where everyone will go about his or her normal Business without fear of being killed. According to him, "The aggrieved Youths in Orsu should sheath their sword by laying down their arms and embrace Peace".

On the other hand, He advised the Government to find a meeting point in view to find lasting solution to the insecurity and possibly grant amnesty to this set of Youths who have gone haywire. According to him, "Peace is Priceless, Chaos is Senseless, Let their be Peace.

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday summoned the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to appear over the purported disqualification of Abubakar Waziri from the Adamawa governorship primary.


In a ruling on an ex-parte application by Waziri, Justice Obiora Egwuatu said it was in the interest of justice for all the parties to appear and respond to the issues in the matter.


Counsel to Waziri, Louis Alozie (SAN) had earlier informed the court that the purported disqualification of Waziri was done in breach of the Electoral Act and the party guidelines after both the Yola South Local Government Area and the Steering Committee cleared him for fulfilling all the requirements to participate in the primary election billed for May 23.


Waziri had sought the court to declare that he is qualified to contest the gubernatorial primary election of the PDP in Adamawa State for the selection of the party’s candidate for the Governorship election in Adamawa State.


Gabon captain and Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has retired from international football, a fortnight before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign begins. The 32-year-old made a total of 68 appearances for the Panthers and scored 29 goals, making him the nation's all-time leading scorer.


The Gabon Football Federation (Fegafoot) said it had received a letter from Aubameyang announcing his decision. "After 13 years of representing my country with pride, I would like to tell you that I am ending my international career," the former Arsenal star wrote. "I would like to thank the Gabonese people and all those who have supported me in the good times as well as the bad ones.


"I will always have great memories like the day I made my debut, or the day I came back from Nigeria with the African Player of the Year award. Sharing it with everyone is an unforgettable moment. "I want to thank my father who made me want to be like him and I hope I made him proud in wearing our colours."


In response, Fegafoot recognised his "immense career" and a player "who knew how to promote, thanks to his professionalism, the image of Gabon around the world".


The Supreme Court has granted Rivers State’s request to join in President Muhammadu Buhari’s suit against Section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act.


Hearing in the suit has been fixed for May 26. The Supreme Court fixed the date after joining Rivers State as an interested party.


Justice Muhammad Dattijo adjourned the matter following the concession by Buhari’s lawyer Lateef Fagbemi that the speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly and Attorney General, Rivers State, be joined as parties.
