....CONDEMN THE PREJUDICIAL, UNJUST AND UNJUSTIFIABLE DISCRIMINATION AND EXCLUSION OF MOST GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATES FROM SHOWCASING THEIR MANIFESTO

A frontrunner and the Candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) Dr. Kemdi Chino Opara yesterday walked out from the townhall meeting for Guber Candidate as organized by the Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission (JDPC) of Owerri Catholic Ecclesiastical Province, at Maria Assumpta.

According to a release by Dr. Kemdi Chino Opara Governorship Campaign office and signed by Rt. Hon Michael Anyanwu, the Deputy Director, Media and Communications, it read in parts;

"We want to unequivocally express our utmost dissatisfaction with the discriminatory and prejudicial manner in which the supposed Townhall meeting for Imo Governorship candidates was conducted by the Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission (JDPC) of Owerri Catholic Ecclesiastical Province, at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri."

"While we commend the faith-based organization for conceptualizing the idea of the gubernatorial debate which would have given the governorship candidates the opportunity to address Imo people on their plans, mission and vision for them and the State, we condemn in very strong terms its decision to have just 6 out of the 17 political parties fielding governorship candidates to present their manifestoes at the Townhall meeting."

"The embarrassing sinister arrangement that ensured the deliberate exclusion of most governorship candidates from the debate is prejudicial, unjust and unjustifiable. It obviously runs foul of the good governance advocacy which the faith-based organization stands for and grossly undermines its vision towards achieving an Imo society where social justice, equity and human dignity thrives for the common Good."

"As a matter of fact, denying the standard-bearer of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), High Chief Dr. Kemdi Chino Opara, who at present and by all standards is the most credible and eminently qualified gubernatorial candidate in Imo state the opportunity to showcase his Imo Liberation roadmap at the Townhall meeting is a great disservice to Ndi Imo and suggests a failed attempt to weaken the prospect of our candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the State."

"It was on this ground that our governorship candidate, his running mate and some members of the YPP Campaign Council who arrived the venue of the Townhall meeting in high spirit decided to stage a walkout in protest of the needless discrimination and exclusion of most governorship candidates from the event."

"On a sad note, it is unfortunate that only 20 supporters of the candidates were accredited to enter the hall without the public in attendance. So what manner of a Townhall meeting is that? Are the manifestos presentation only meant for the party supporters?"

"It is highly regrettable and saddening to see that a faith-based organization with one of the best platforms to help Ndi Imo make informed decision in the forthcoming election by giving them the opportunity of knowing the strength, weakness and the overall fitness of those seeking to govern the State decided to be nepotic instead of giving equal opportunity to all the governorship candidates", he concluded.

As the Imo State Governorship Election is drawing closer, Politicians and their supporters have started their stock in trade by wooing people with sugarcoated promises and abandon them afterwards when they are elected into office and Governor Hope Odidika Uzodinma is one of such who doesn't keep to Gentlemen agreement.

Awomama is a great city in Oru-East, Imo State with industrious and progressive men and women that has been neglected over time by some crude Politicians who doesn't believe anything good will come out from this great land flowing with milk and honey; a land blessed with one of Nigeria's finest Natural Mineral resources. Enemies abound against the progress of the Awomama. If not for the grace of God, Awomama would have been a ghost town where brothers and sisters will be fighting themselves but mercy said NO.

Governor Uzodimma has been Governor of Imo state for over 3 Years now yet Awomama cannot boast of anything from his reign. It's been backwardness all along. Since he assumed office, he has been promising to rehabilitate the porous Awomama - Okwudor road, we keep hearing "CONTRACTORS WOULD BE MOBILIZED TO SITE". What has the Governor done for the people of Awomama? No empowerment whatsoever have been given to Onye Awomama. What can one point out today that this government have done for Ndi Awomama if not neglect and abandonment?

The Local Government Headquarters was in Awomama before somebody moved it to the Governor's community in Omuma. It is worthy of note that the people of Awomama supported Governor Uzodimma's Governorship ambition in 2019 and the support base was really huge but what is happening now is a clear indication of the perceived hatred against the good and loving people of Awomama.

Security wise, Awomama and some adjoining communities like Amagu, Akuma, Akatta etc are worst hit. Commercial activities halted, young men and women leaving their father's land for the fear of the unknown, no thanks to agitation by non-state actors. Is this what these communities signed for by having a son from that region as the Chief Security of the State? This must STOP!!!

Where is Omuma in all these? Truth be told, the Governor is from Omuma and he virtually diverted everything to his community. The newly built General Hospital is located in Omuma. The Imo State Polytechnic, Magistrate Court, Customary Court, and High Court are all built in his community. Even State appointments meant for Oru-East are all cornered for Omuma. The question is, why this hatred on Awomama and other communities?

Why we await answer to these questions, Governor Uzodimma should understand that we are not fools. We are also Imolites and deserve to be treated well.
