Umuezeanoruo Eziama Stakeholders Condemn Legal Harassment Against Traditional Ruler, noting that such actions will definitely mar him before the people, both now in the future.

... Urge Nze Emeka Obiefule to Cease Frivolous Lawsuits as Nze Emeka Obiefule sues IGP, DIGP, CP, PSC, Traditional Ruler and Two others

by Ikenna Uzoma

The Stakeholders of Umuezeanoruo Eziama Autonomous Community in Nkwerre Local Government Area, Imo State, have expressed deep concern over the continued legal harassment of the Traditional Ruler, HRH, Eze Emmanuel Ekwujuru Uzoho, by Nze Emeka Obiefule. They urge him to desist from his persistent attempts to destabilize the community through a barrage of lawsuits.

In a recent legal action with Charge No: HON/21/2025 in the High Court of Imo State, Nkwerre Judicial Division, Nze Emeka Obiefule and his elder brother, Chief Uchenna Obiefule, named several high-ranking police officials—including the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP, FCID), the Commissioner of Police (SEB), ACP Terfa Moses Yisa, CSP Stanley Nwodo, and the Police Service Commission (PSC)—alongside HRH, Eze Emmanuel Ekwujuru Uzoho, as respondents. The lawsuit claims violations of fundamental human rights, yet stakeholders argue that this is merely another tactic by Nze Emeka Obiefule to intimidate the traditional ruler.

Several community leaders from Umuezeanoruo Eziama Autonomous Community who were interviewed by our correspondent spoke out against Nze Emeka Obiefule’s actions, pointing to his troubling history of violating the rights of others.

Chief Emeka Uzoma described his behavior as reckless and uncalled for, citing instances where he allegedly orchestrated unjustified arrests using law enforcement agencies to intimidate individuals.

One particularly shocking event took place on December 26, 2025, when armed officers from the Tiger Base Police Formation raided Ezemenaha Village, arresting Double Chief Ignatius Nwadike without a warrant. Reports indicate that Nze Emeka Obiefule also targeted Nze Lawrence Nwadike, whose name was not even included in his petition to the police, along with his son. The pattern of harassment has caused widespread distress within the community.

A community chieftain, speaking anonymously for fear of reprisal, highlighted that Nze Emeka Obiefule’s ongoing legal maneuvers appear to be a desperate attempt to pressure HRH, Eze Emmanuel Ekwujuru Uzoho into relinquishing the traditional stool. Having previously sought to weaponize law enforcement agencies for his personal ambitions, he has now resorted to frivolous lawsuits.

The chieftain further questioned the hypocrisy of Nze Emeka Obiefule’s legal battle, noting his past violations of others' rights while now seeking protection for his own. "It is laughable that someone notorious for disregarding human rights is now seeking enforcement of his own. He who approaches equity must do so with clean hands," he remarked.

The Stakeholders of Umuezeanoruo Eziama Autonomous Community call upon the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, to closely monitor Nze Emeka Obiefule’s activities. They urge the government to intervene and prevent further harassment, ensuring the stability and well-being of the community.

Describing his actions as 'primitive and desperate', the stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to resisting intimidation and defending their traditional leadership structure from unwarranted interference.

England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed he will leave Premier League champions Liverpool at the end of the season. The 26-year-old, who has been at the club since he was six, is out of contract on 30 June and is expected to join Real Madrid.

"After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season," Alexander-Arnold announced on social media. "This is easily the hardest decision I've ever made in my life." He was one of three high-profile players whose deals at Anfield ran out this summer, but while Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have signed new contracts in recent weeks, Alexander-Arnold will leave.

The Liverpool-born defender has made 352 appearances scored 23 goals for the club since making his debut in 2016. He has helped them win this season's top-flight title under Arne Slot and also won the Premier League under the Reds' former manager Jurgen Klopp in 2019-20. His other trophies with Liverpool also include the Champions League in 2018-19, the 2022 FA Cup and two League Cups. "This club has been my whole life – my whole world - for 20 years," added Alexander-Arnold.

"From the academy right through until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever. I will forever be in debt to you all. "But, I have never known anything else and this decision is about experiencing a new challenge, taking myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself both professionally and personally." Liverpool said Alexander-Arnold "will depart with our gratitude and appreciation for his contribution during a sustained period of success".
