The Social Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration has in the last two years evacuated seven hundred and eighty nine beggars from the streets of the territory. This is according to the Acting Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat Irene Elegbede who is complaining about the non collaborative efforts of relevant stakeholders to rid the streets of beggars and sex workers.
The Secretariat is worried about the increasing spate of commercial sex workers and beggars on the street of Abuja and the headache they pose to the authorities in the FCT.
The Secretariat despite all efforts to ensure the FCT is void of social miscreants is limited due to lack of a willing collaboration from relevant bodies to evacuate them.
