Imo State Sports Commissioner, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, has sadly lost his mother while on official duty in Ogun State attending the National Sports Festival.
The tragic news comes as a heavy blow to the commissioner, who was deeply committed to representing the state at the prestigious event in Abeokuta.
Hon. Onyeocha, a native of Umutanze, in Orlu LGA, and one of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s key supporters in the zone, is no stranger to personal hardships.
He was among those who lost their homes, with the late mother's house also attacked and razed down by unknown arsonists during the crisis that rocked Orlu in the early days of the current administration.
Despite these setbacks, he has remained steadfast in his public service and support for the state government.
As at the time of filing this report, our reporter who called the bereaved commissioner could not readily confirm the story as the Commissioner's number was unreachable.
However, a very close friend of the family confirmed the story, adding that "the commissioner's head is currently filled with plenty wahala that you won't understand", he stated.
