The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the personal particulars of all candidates contesting in the upcoming Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
According to a statement released by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, a total of sixteen political parties successfully submitted the nomination forms for their candidates and running mates before the deadline of 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025.
As required by Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and in line with INEC’s Timetable and Schedule of Activities, the Commission has now displayed Form EC9 for each candidate. These forms, including academic credentials and other supporting documents, are available for public inspection at INEC's State Headquarters and all 21 Local Government Area offices across Anambra State.
INEC is urging members of the public particularly aspirants who participated in their party primaries to carefully review the published documents. Anyone with credible evidence that a candidate submitted false information is encouraged to challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court, as provided in Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act.
The Commission also reaffirmed that the final list of cleared candidates will be published on June 9, 2025, in compliance with Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, which mandates that the final list be released at least 150 days before the election.
INEC continues to call on all stakeholders to remain informed and engaged as the electoral process progresses.
