Sidi Ould Tah of Mauritania has been elected the ninth President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), succeeding Nigeria’s Akinwumi Adesina.
His election was confirmed Thursday at the AfDB Annual Meetings in Abidjan after rounds of voting by the Bank’s Board of Governors. Tah, currently head of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, will assume office on September 1, 2025.
