Kano Health Commissioner Dr. Abubakar Labaran says over 1.2 million residents are living with Hepatitis B, with a 6% prevalence rate.
Speaking on World Hepatitis Day, he noted efforts to curb the virus include free testing, treatment for pregnant women, and a pilot programme to prevent mother-to-child transmission.
The state has released N95m for test kits and drugs, with an additional N135m request pending.
